I usually waive everyone on my 40.   Some are revocable, some aren't.   That's the chance you take when you claim someone.

I'm not one to "hope to find a sucker" but owners really need to check contracts before claiming players.
This is always an entertaining period in MG.  The waiver wire is filled with pretty much every ML player with > minimum salary at some point.

Unfortunately, MG owners are usually pretty savvy about picking up ugly contracts... unlike the Chicago White Sox (see Rios, Alex) and the Yankees (see Canseco, Jose)
Indeed... sick and Mikey prefers to sign them themselves!

Um, the Whiny ******* are poised to take over the NL.

Now is the time to join, so I can ridicule people I know.

I started a team 4 seasons ago and a smile comes across my face everytime I see someone place one of the bad contracts I had gotten rid of the first/second season come across the waiver wire...team had around 8 players with overalls in the 60s with 4mil+ contracts...

You could always do what everone else does.

1) Find a newbie
2) Package the high salaried bum with a high OVR rated guy that isnt good ask in return for a low OVR player that has good skill ratings.. And pretend like you're giving the guy a good deal..

3) Dont worry about how you screwed the newbie because he wont be around next season anyway :)

And many owners don't think twice about signing type b free agents because they don't have to give up any draft picks.  Sure, it may give their competition an extra top 50 pick, and it may push down their second round pick, but that's often overlooked.
