Just how selective is your memory, Mike?

Think all the way back to Monday, in this same series. Cliff Lee was pulled after 8 innings when Texas broke the game open in the top of the 9th. Washington confirmed after the game that Lee was finishing the game if it had stayed 2-0. It didn't, it turned into a blowout, and so the SP was pulled.

Cliff Lee wasn't being pulled so he could come back early.   8 innings is a lot of innings from a SP.   Please apply your logic to the point of the thread.
*You* are the one that assumed it only has benefits for bringing a pitcher back early.

Some owners believe having a pitcher at 100 the day before his start is better than having a pitcher get to 100 only on the day of his start. Not running a guy out there for the ninth when he's not needed reduces his PC, and makes it so he is able to get back to 100% more quickly, even if the rotation isn't changed.

The fact of the matter is, this happens on a regular basis in the ML, and even more so in the playoffs.

Read the thread.    I asked the OP why.    He said so he could bring his pitcher back early.

Please list all the times it has happened.   Or just a few recent ones.   I listed one.   Zambrano was taken out early so he could pitch a game that never happened.

Read the thread. The OP never said that. You asked it as a leading question and the OP danced around the question.

But, if it makes your World spin easier, I've started my own thread with a similar suggestion and MY reason is not necessarily to bring a pitcher back early.

If you don't know why he wouldn't want to pull the pitcher early, you're far dumber than I thought.    But, if you can't figure it out on your own, here it is:   He wants to fatigue the pitcher less so he could have the option of using him earlier.
