In December I started a project to find the best private league in HBD. After working on this project for the last month, I would like to announce that it is finished. Right now I’m working on adding the league emblems to the top 25 teams. 10 different awards will be given to the leagues outside the top 25 as well.

The HBD private league rankings will be revealed on Friday January 14th on the Knucklebones radio show. The full list will be added to the hbdnews.blogspot.com blog on Saturday the 15th and then the list will be added to the forums Monday the 17th.

To be part of the rankings your league needed to finish at least 10 seasons and of course be a private league.

The way I came up with the ranking was based off my power rankings formula. I did 10 seasons of power rankings to get your league average, and then I figured out your 10 season retention rate, percentage of teams that made the playoffs the last 10 seasons and how many different World Series champions you’ve had during the last 10 seasons. Everything was added together to get your results and your ranking. [If you league finishes it’s 10th season during week your league will be added to the list.] This will be done every 6 months or until your tired of seeing it.

Also I would like to announce a contest. The person who can tell me the top 10 in order or the bottom 10 in order will win a free HBD season.

Please also tell me who you think will is the best private league in HBD for the Fan Favorite Award. Thank you.

Please let me know what you think or improvements when the list is revealed.

The best private league is More Cowbell. There's balance, teams that rebuild can come back and contend. There's generally very few vacancies after a season and no whiff of collusion.
It's been 16 1/2 seasons of fun for me (I took over a team near the end of season 1.
