I should consider myself lucky.  I have given up 18 more runs then I have scored but am still 20 - 20.  Most of the deficit is because of two blowout games and my 1 - 4 Orioles team.

I have one first-place team, one last-place team, and a bunch of middle-of-the-pack teams ... unfortunately the hot streaks are divided among teams and my Cubs team is a typical Cubs team, so I'm four games under .500 after two days.

On the bright side, my Hornsbys have OBPs of .500 ('29 Cubs), .556 ('28 Braves), and ... uh ... .192 (slugging .160!) from the '27 Giants, my lone first-place team. Two out of three ain't bad.

Cards are 0-6...yee haw!

Early sample size anomalies:

In 3 appearances, my '90 Eck has a .563 OAV

Derek Jeter leads my Yankees in homers.

My Cards team is 7 games back after 7 games...that is a gifted accomplishment

Speaking of sample size anomolies...

TIGERS: Ty Cobb (.420) and Harry Heilmann (.403) are hitting .207 and .185, respectively.

WHITE SOX: My two setup RPs Barry Latman, Earl Caldwell have allowed more ERs (15 ERs in 7.1 IPs) than my big 3 starters Walsh, Cicotte, D.White (12 ERs in 41 IPs).

GIANTS: Fred Snodgrass .222 avg is third best on the team among regulars.  ('93 Bonds .107, '69 McCovey .118, '31 T.Jackson .148, '27 Hornsby .160, '.27 Harper .207).   Barry Bonds' .381 OPS is just 755 points from his real life OPS of 1.136

YANKEES: '1920 Ruth is on a pace to finish with 23 HRs and 69 RBIs.  '94 Paul O'Neill obp (.167) is less than his batting avg (.172).  He walked 103 times in real life.

PIRATES: Arky Vaughan (.388) and Paul Waner (.380) are hitting .200 and .179, respectively.

Roger Peckingpaugh has 5 HRs; Ruth 0

Jeter is leading my Yankees team with a .262 BA...Gehrig's creeping up, but Ruth, Mantle and ARod are all under .225

Through 7 games, there are still 5 undefeated teams...
Yankees (pedrocerrano, I)
Tigers (calhoop, H)
Athletics (elonsmitty, C)
Phillies (mpitt76, H)
Dodgers (llcoach, G)

There are still 3 winless teams
Cardinals (Jtpsops, L)
Phillies (moneybonn, J)
Reds (pmars2001, M)

I have 19 active teams at the moment, including the 8 teams in this tournament.  In the pm games, my teams went 14-5.  Of course, 3-5 in the tournament and 11-0 in the other various leagues I'm in.

the warnings about McLain came true in his second outing: 6 HRs
3/29/2011 1:46 PM
Wow, 6 HRs by one team, in one game?  That total equals or exceeds the cumulative total HRs of seven of my eight teams (through 8 games).
3/29/2011 2:00 PM
My McLain has allowed one HR in 21 IP.  One of the lone bright spots.
3/29/2011 5:49 PM
7-1 in the PM cycle, 1-7 in the PM2 cycle. My worst team was not the sole PM loss, my best team was not the sole PM2 win.

Bad: Tigers '61 Cash is slugging .194, Cubs '30 Wilson is slugging .361, A's '90 Henderson is slugging .067 (but has an OBP of .282).

Good: My Orioles team has an OPS of .829. Braves '03 Sheffield is slugging .606. Pirates '27 Waner has an OPS of 1.069.

Playing only three teams isn't enough to show patterns yet. I'd like to say my Orioles team is a pleasant surprise (its only losses are to calhoop's 9-0 Tigers), but that could easily be sample size. My Pirates team isn't winless, so that feels good ...
