Haha true that

North Carolina Wesleyan is also going to be one hell of a program in the future.

Knight D3 is no Wooden, but it's the toughest of the 2-a-day worlds (for D3).  By a decent margin.

The other factor worth considering, though, is that Southern California in general is a pretty fertile area for D3 recruiting.  Most of the Upstate competes with the SUNY, the CUNY, the Empire 8, and some other schools as well for the handful of decent recruits in NY.  NY is a terrible place to have to do D3 recruiting.

And PA is almost as bad.  And 3 of my 4 teams are in one or the other of those states...  All of which are more successful than my school in the far more fertile Carolinas region.  But I still stand by the conviction that NY is a terrible place to recruit in D3.

While Cali is nice, la Verne for one is in an expensive pocket with few good recruits w/n 300 miles. My odac teams have far more recruits at close range making recruiting a lit cheaper. East coast recruiting tends to be more concentrated and thus cheaper especially for the a. And a+ teams who can scare others off.

Duke, have you coached in NY or PA?  Wooden D3 has around 30 human-coached D3 teams in NY.  Next season my C- school is showing 56 D2 recruits; typically my better-prestige program at Rochester shows significantly fewer even than that.  Next season, for example, Knight will have 30 + transfers who show up as D2 recruits in the state of NY to an A+ program.  By the time the couple of D2 schools around get theirs there isn't much left to go around as far as dropdowns/pulldowns.

Have not, but I do scout the NE with some regularity from VA. That said, I'm currently only in crum and phelan and Knight. Phelan is weaker than Knight and crum is about the same.

Just to update, we had 9 teams in the NT and 1 in the PI. We are now to the Sweet 16, and have 7 teams still in the NT and our PI team still alive.

and our teams that were seeded #8 and #9 in their region just took down the other two #1 seeds (both had 1 loss previously) and we had a third team take down a 30-0 #2 seed
