Juvenile....We started by stating that the cap is high, in a civil manner at that.  Ash even said that to each his own, and we started joking about teams we would enter, but seriously what do we know...I have only been on the site for 10 years (off and on) with 171 seasons and Ash has been here 3 years with 25 'chips in 81 seasons.  We were pointing out a few things about the cap.

I get VERY bothered when someone questions by ethics.  I may have a rep here for being a jerk sometimes, but generally I treat everyone fair.  I do not see where I did anything unethical.  I was not promoting any other league, instead we were actually drummung up more support for your league by playing under the constraints of your rules with a couple of caveats (handicaps if you will) on ourselves.

I have no problem with you powernow.  You seem to be a newish player that likes ultra high caps.  My problem is with people that cast improper judgments on me and others.

As for ash...I can personally attest to his high ethical standard on this site.  Ash helps many new players understand how the sim works and what is most important.  He has been a very loyal, vocal, and active member of this site as an advocate for people who want to play the sim.

We never spoke negatively against anyone here, but we were branded as lying know-it-alls.  Tell me where that was fair.  I can see where our rhetoric can be construed as arrogant, but sometimes our experience can actually help some leagues fill quicker (which gets everyone playing quicker and gets your credit back to you quicker).

Wonder why I get ******?  I have spent too much time and seen admin screw too many people that have eventually left the site.  Three years ago you league would fill in 5 days and OL's would fill daily.  Now good themes take a month to fill and OL;s take a week or more.  Sometimes to get a league to fill quickly you need to have a little more broad appeal, and that was the original point.

Then some other noob pipes up about how great the cap is and all the choices it offers you.  So, again, I say that you can literally put anybody you want on a team with a $60M cap, but, again, to each his own.

Then there's some banter between myself and Malone about what the possibilities are for a league like this.  So, out of all of that, I'm now an unethical, prosthelytizing, arrogant juvenile who is unwelcome to join a league in which you've publicly posted the league number?  Oh no!  Whatever will I do?!  I'm not allowed to join a league I didn't want to join in the first place.

I've got some news for you:  If you, in your total and complete newbness, had asked for help, I'd have given it to you.  I have helped many, many owners better understand the sim and have even spent hours working on owners' teams for them to try and help them out, with absolutely nothing to gain except more competition for myself.  But no, you want to exclude me from your ridiculous league and continue to bask in your averageness.

A sure fire way to keep people out of your leagues is to run them off.  A lot of vets that play the theme circuit will see this thread and scoff at the cap.  If they bother reading anything beyond the subject line, they'll see how you react and won't join because of how you carry yourself.   Many players from the theme circuit join other theme leagues to help fellow owners fill up.  We do each other favors like that.  Often, we'll see that someone has posted on a thread for a league that we initially weren't interested in and open up the thread to see what it's all about.  Kind of like I did tonight with Malone.  I saw $100M cap, was immediately uninterested... but then I saw that Malone had responded, so I opened the thread to see if he was joining.  That's how a lot of it works.

I wish you luck with your league and your future in the sim.  That, unlike my first sentence of this particular post, was not sarcasm.

a)$100 million? wow, too much - I can draft a Kidd, Lebron, Rodman, Moses, Wilt lineup for 49m and still have another 51m to fill only 3000 more minutes (if it werent for the clones rule I might do a double rodman, double lebron like the one I'm already running under 57m)

you see, suggesting a lower cap was probably what I would have done if I was initially interested and wanted to help speed things up - these guys did that and got a ration of crap for it - I think you have a 'fail' on your hands - maybe a WIS career defining fail like Nick Anderson at the free throw line

Quite simply, this was a space for recruitment. Not for the exposition of pro's & cons of the cap by two 'users' 
 People have the right to choose their path for fun as they measure it.  Perhaps they enjoy seeing match ups like peak Payton vs peak Frazier or peak Robinson vs peak Shaq spread over all positions just as I do. 100 million makes all this possible. Real life can offer match ups like D Fisher vs C Paul but I see no joy in recreating such obvious mis-matches in the name of realism. Not when the alternatives are so much more fun. Indeed the true spirit of the' What If Concept' is creating the dynamic match ups that never occured. There is room for diversity. If the100 million league fills or not, and they often do,I say let it be offered to people in a fair and equitable fashion.

so does 60m with a lot less wasted salary and unused minutes, that's all they were saying

Where is the crime in unused salary/minutes?  I played a 55 million league in my last league with a great Commish. I did O.K. winning 58 with playoffs but at mid season realized that despite a great experience I considered the 100 million a better concept. Nevertheless, I thanked him and moved on at season's end.

And what is my crime here? I posted a choice for a 100 mil league on a recruitment site. If I wanted particpation in endless cap debates I would have chosen another forum.

I am enjoying reading all that was posted by felonius, leibo, and dh.  Too bad I didn't catch any of the drivel that the dearly departed posted.  That dead guy trying to start this league with the lack of experience he had with the sim even though everyone else is trying to tell him otherwise from what I am reading is like an 8 eight old suburban kid trying to direct porn.  No idea how to do it so lets just throw more at it.  Since I couldn't win with one cap level now I am going to definately win at a higher one.

Too bad he will never know since he died in a horrific fire with his life partner.
