Round 2 Themes (2011 WIS Championship) Topic

Question: How do I research players in the 100M Re-Allocation Draft theme?
Answer: I will create the league with the 480-player Whitelist.

Followup Question: What about the <300K players?
Answer: I will either have admin include all (non-clone) sub 300K players in the Whitelist, or I can start a new league (no whitelist) once the draft over.

All numbers listed are inclusive correct?  So 40 IP's for 40+ would  be ok?

Yes.

May I suggest for the 100m reallocation draft that we submit rosters in reverse order of standings (i.e. guy in 24th place gets to submit first).  Maybe even give them time-slots (even in 10m increments or so) just so that people aren't standing around in chaos trying to figure out if they pressed Submit Post faster than the previous poster and then having to edit posts (and then making people behind them have invalid rosters).

Sure, that makes sense.

In regards to the 90m theme, I assume that the other player has to be an "actual" teammate and not just one that played in the same year for the same team?

Ex. If I decide to take 2011 Dan Haren of the Anaheim Angels, I see that he played on the 2010 Arizona Diamondbacks as did Joe Saunders.  However, they were never teammates as that was the MLB trade that occurred between the two teams.

If we don't allow the above, what do we use to check if they actually played together (Baseball Reference, Boxscore, etc.)?

If you do want to make this change, make sure to update the "Uniqueness" portion of the theme description as some people don't read all the comments.  I would also suggest minimum 30 minute time slots as if the poster before you picks alot of your players, you'll be scrambling to find new players to meet the requirements before your time is up (or maybe make the first few small and the last ones longer).

No, whenever I run a "teammate" theme, it's essentially "playing for the same time in the same season".  I'm not going to check dates to see if a player actually was on the roster as another player on the same date.

I doubt I will do time slots.  It's essentially one-round.  If it takes 5 or 6 days, no big deal.  There is no advantage to going first or last in this theme.  It's not like we get to use the exact roster we are submitting.  The only "advantage" of going early is that you have fewer players you have to check on the alpha list.

I don't know if there isn't some type of advantage submitting earlier as you can essentially block certain elite players if you intend to build a certain type of team.

For example if I feel I want to build an elite HR hitting club, I could submit a roster of deadball pitchers but not using their elite years (ex. 1910 Addie Joss) and this would block anyone submitting their elite versions.

But if your OK with it taking a few days then I think doing it in reverse order is fine by me.

Another question regarding the 90m theme, does the 2011 player have to be WIS eligible in the year they were a teammate in the year I select the teammate?

Ex. In 1995, Derek Jeter played for the NY Yankees and had 51 PA but does not appear in the WIS database.  Can I take a 1995 New York Yankee?  If so, I assume just checking www.baseball-reference.com is sufficient to verify they played for the same franchise in a particular year?

As long as he played 1 game with the team, he is considered a teammate.   Yes, I'll be checking baseball reference.

For the ERA and AVG draft league, is is actual or normalized ERA and AVG?
10/3/2011 7:07 PM
Actual.

It will be first-come, first-serve, once I post the thread.  I don't see any real advantage to posting early or late, since everybody has to use a version of each player anyway.  For players at multiple positions (like A-Rod), I will be fliexible at where he gets slotted (based on who else gets nominated)
I think it would still be better to allow people to submit their community players in reverse order of standing or even a random preset order ahead of time even due to issues that arise with first come first serve when their is restrictions on the choices (example would be if I wanted to submit a catcher as my communinity player but before I can submit two other people post and block my choice, then  I have to go find another position I like that hopefully hasn't been posted again when I come back).
