(A Note:  When I say "Week" I am referring to one round of games, if not clear from context)
No, it wasn't clear at all, and I wasn't trying to misconstrue what you were saying. Why would you call one day and/or round of games a week anyways?

nacho, a couple nights later also in Rupp (DI), a team in my conference was at 56 in the projection report and lost on the road to the #1 RPI team, and promptly slid to #62. If a "good" loss (particularly on the road) very clearly moved you to a better place, this wouldn't have happened.
I definitely see your point, and once again, I'm not claiming as a fact that losing to high rpi teams has a overweighted positive impact on a team's project. I would have to look at that situation from DI to see if anything stood (could you please let me know if you remember), but if they play a mostly mediocre schedule then a few games against good opponents may not not hold up as well or impact as noticeably.

"Given that we don't know exactly how it works we have to ask ourselves what is the more probable cause for this event. So, which is more likely: (a) many of those things happening in one day, creating enough enough points to surpass the higher projected team despite the negative impact of that days loss, or (b) the system overvalues losing to teams with a high rpi?"

Honestly, I think you're completely undervaluing how much can change with 10+ teams from your schedule playing other teams.  If your non-con schedule goes 2-8 in a given night, that can significantly affect a lot of things.  I don't know what seble's games scores are or how they work, but I know that one weird night can change a lot, and I
certainly wouldn't jump to conclusions and attribute an odd move on the projection report to overvaluing losing to good teams.

I understand where you're coming from, and I'm not claiming that it works one way or the other. I didn't include this is the original message for brevity, but I checked on the original day of the occurance and there weren't any serious instances of bad or numerous loses relating to my non-conference schedule.

I just think the negative impact of an additional loss would be more than the increase from those factors alone. Plus, I would be less speculative if it had been the team's 2nd or 3rd lose, but it was their 4th.

Fair enough, I understand that based on this experience, I just haven't seen it that way.

Did you check the other team's schedule that day to see if his previously-played opponents had an exceptional day?

Nothing really caught my eye that I can remember.

Looking only at RPIs there is a possibility that a team went from Top 100 to 101. Or from Top 50 to just outside of that area. That type of drop could be what cause this. It happened to me where a team I played twice went from 49 to 52 and I dropped a few spots because my Top 50 record went from 7-2 to 5-2.
