I always thought that schools in Hawaii, South Florida, etc.. should have some kind of advantage just because it is a place kids would like to live.

I'm still not 100% buying into the argument that recruit generation is making mid majors uncompetitive.

Look at this team, who made the F4 last season, with 6 SRs that he recruited with at D prestige:

yeah and somehow only went to a B+
I have absolutely no problem with them being "only" a B+. The program has had 2 NT appearances in the past 45 seasons. One Final Four run does not suddenly vault a program into the A prestige range. Remember,  prestige impacts one thing and one thing only: recruiting power. Did VCU or George Mason start recruiting 4 and 5 star players, or anywhere approaching BCS level guys after their Final Four runs? Even Butler, after back-to-back title game appearances probably isn't any higher than a B+ in real life, as they haven't started signing a bunch of highly rated players, either. A B+ prestige is a very solid prestige that probably would put you in the top half of BCS schools. It's nothing to dismiss so lightly.

Absolutely, prof. They're in my conference and I'd love to see their prestige go through the roof, but any higher imho would've been kind of absurd.

As for this idea, I do think there are more personality/priority driven things that can be incorporated into recruiting. But I agree with tianyi -- a complete overhaul like this would be way too much.

I love the original idea. And it could obviously be weighted so that it isn't a 50/50 split of guys who want a powerhouse and guys who want a good degree. It would just provide recruiting exceptions (advantages) geared towards getting a stud player to Harvard that no one else wants.

On the other hand, I agree with professor that getting more coaches to D1 would help alleviate the balance of power issues. I'd love to be D1 but now I've figured out D2 recruiting and see so many D1 openings that I think I'd rather just pull down D1 guys to my D2 team than actually go up to D1 and recruit against the Big 6 guys. I'll end up making the move at some point, but right now I don't know when...before a couple seasons ago, I'd have made the move if I was able.

I think there are a lot of D2 and even D3 coaches that feel even more strongly about their division which is ultimately hurting D1 and it should be the opposite. Although, D1's should be able to fire coaches easier - but they should be able to get another D1 job with reasonable resume's.

Bottom line: this is ultimately a great game and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, whether changes are made or not!

That's good, because change happens rather slowly here...
