Looking at the 7 worlds I'm in, the Big 6 are 89.7% filled.

Looking at the D1 population figures gives a rough estimate that 55% of all D1 coaches are in a Big 6 conference.

So is it really a shock that the Big 6 dominate?

If the lower levels were more populated then it would be more evenly distributed. The fact is the lower levels are mostly sim coached and the Big 6 are mostly human coached. The mindset that you can't win outside of the Big 6 has led people to not even want to try. However, as is being proven in Rupp, you can still win in non Big 6 conferences.

I agree that humans play a major factorAlso in Rupp, the only full conference is CUSA. Big ten has 6 /12 human coaches and Big East has 7/12. It's all about having a group of decent human coaches in a conf and keeping that conf as full as possible.

Honestly, I find the notion that we/WIS should be artificially shooting to mirror the same amount of teams that they have in real life to be repugnant.

That's the great part about this game -- some worlds may end up looking like real life, and others may skew significantly in one direction or the other. In some worlds the ACC is great, in others it's weak. The abiltity to plot your own course -- as a team, a conference, etc. is the great part about WIS, and there should be more of it, not less.

If you want some mid majors to have deep runs in the tournament or more mi majors in the tournament then get a whole bunch of coaches in one conference. If you have good coaches the teams will get better and get in the tournament. Then they will start getting better recruits with the money they get from going deeper and deeper in the tournament. Then the conference will be good and the teams will be good. Like girt is saying you can plot your own course.
