People from North Scranton make fun of Minooka.  You're like Canada to us.  You know that, right?

So when u say minooka is like Canada to us I guess that to mean minooka is full of smart people that aren't afraid to leave their doors unlocked because in minooka there isnt roaming gangs raping and or robbing everybody they meet on the road? Lol I just jest... Apparently the people of minooka also somehow have their medical expenses paid for too?
4/5/2012 7:24 AM
No.  It means that people from Minooka are generally regarded as slow; dimwitted; stupid.  You know, like Canadians.
4/5/2012 7:36 AM
ZING!!!!!!!!, eh?

That's the extent of what I would expect out of people from North Scranton.  Anybody that has their own sense of identity and community is always going to be made fun of by those that don't.  Be it Minooka, the rest of South Side, West Side, East Mountain, the Hill Section, they all get made fun of.  Usually by North Scranton people, because North Scranton people have the personality of beige wallpaper, and their identity is derived from nothing more than their location on the map.

In other words, if Scranton were Gilligan's Island, North Scranton would be "...and the rest."

I'm sure North Scranton would probably get made fun of, if anyone could be bothered to care enough about it.  Outside of Mickey Gannon's Wing Night, I can't think of a single worthwhile thing I've ever done in that part of town.

"North Scranton, come see our famous flood damage!"

Looks like you two need to have lunch at Coopers to sort things out. While you do I'll go to Salerno's for White Pizza

I'm guessing that you had to have somebody else compose and type that for you, as Minooka folk usually struggle with grammar more advanced than a couple of one-syllable words strung together into a short sentence that usually ends with "hayna".

Coopers is a fine establishment.  My cousin used to be the chef there.

Minooka was once a city by itself. It had a mayor, a high school, and my paternal grandfather was the last police constable before it was absorbed into South Scranton. We're proud people whose ancestors earned their living in the coal mines. We're predominantly Irish and devoutly Roman Catholic, and its the only neighborhood in Northeast PA where the Notre Dame fans outnumber the Penn State fans (Knute Rockne > Jerry Sandusky).  We work hard, and when the day is done we like a fun time and some good drinks to unwind.

And if a few uppity snobs from Green Ridge think that deserves ridicule, then fire away.  Just make sure you don't spill any chardonnay on your smoking jacket, or scuff up that nice grand piano while you're chortling away there, tec.

Give my best to Babs and Muffy, and I hope you enjoy your next cotillion.

Doesn't matter. Like I said earlier, there's really no reason at all to ever go to that nothing-happening part of town. Unless you enjoy watching people be dull.
