And you might try to work on figuring out how to do anything but get swept once you get there. I've been to more WS than you in 49 less playoff appearances. BTW ... Tanking only works in the regular season.
You have deathinahole-level success rates.   Congrats?

Just finished a 5 game series with 9 pitchers.   1 did not pitch.   All 16 position players played.    Memphis and Rochester.  I added a 10th for the next series because we have 3 games in Durham(assuming it goes all 5).

Any insight on pitching "fatigue" for the playoffs?  My ace has 96% right now... Do I throw him game 1 to hopefully get him again for game 4 and / or 6 or 7 if it goes that far??  Or will he be drastically different at 96%?  thanks for the help!

If he's not 100% for game 1, I don't think he'll be 100% for game 4 if you pitch him, normal PC, in game 1.    I'd shorten his PC if I used him in game 1 or maybe even rest him until game 2 if I had any confidence in my SP2.     I don't think he'll perform drastically different at 96% but fatigue will set in quicker.

I've now played 12 games, carried 9 in the first 5 game series and 10 against Durham in a 5 game series.    I now have 10 for the 7 game series(two played).    One pitcher still has not pitched.

What do people do on pitch limits?  In the past I've kept them the same as the regular season and I can't say that's been working.  Example: Stam/Dur starter of 75/25 would usually get set to 90 target, 100 limit during the regular season.  Do you tweak this to be 90 target, no limit (or 115/120 limit) in order to keep the stud in, or do people generally try to make sure their 1st/2nd starters are ready to throw 3 games later by keeping a conservative max pitch count?

I seldom change pitch counts for the playoffs.    If my bullpen is top-notch, I might change the SP pull rating.

I carried 10 in each of the last two series(a couple of guys swapped out between series).   Ducey, Machado and Bennett pitched 3 1/3 in the next to last game when we gave up 10.   There's no question I could have carried 8 the entire time.
6/27/2012 2:28 PM
I might not carry 17 position players but my mop up, if I have one, and two or 3 other guys go on rest. I only want my best 8 pitching for the playoffs.

This is a break down of my staff from last post season (WS winner). I essentially had 6 starters, and a SUA that can go 140-150 innings a season. I tandemed my best SP with my SUA, my #2 with my #3, and my #4 with my # 5 (trying to go left/right as much as possible). I am one of the few that employes a closer when I have a pitcher good enough, and left him as my closer. My goal was to have my tandems go 8 (4 innings each) every 3rd game. I was actually a little inning heavy on the front part of the tadem

I actually carried 12, but as you can see 1 never saw an inning and 1 made 1 appearance over 15 ish games. So, yeah, you can get by with 10 if you have the right staff.
