Need some advice on my first 3 recruiting targets Topic

I've culled my list to 9 guys, all guys with lots of upside (at least 5 blue numbers on each, and up to 7 or 8 for some). Want to at least sign one really solid potential-type guy, to get my roster back to 9 scholarship players, and leave me with (i believe) 7 open scholarships after next season. I'd prefer to get 2 guys though, and be at 10 scholarship players, leaving me with 6 open schollies after next season. This season's gonna be rough. Will have to game plan like crazy to even win 4 or 5 games, I think.

wildcat, you play in 2 worlds now. my advice is this. pick a good coach in each world who you've played with some or been in a conf with, and strike up a conversation with them about something. afterwards, ask if you mind if you bounce things off them from time to time. this way you will have a buddy/mentor in each world you can ask questions about specific players in your other world. i think it is technically a violation of fair play guidelines to post the potential of any recruit during recruiting, on the forums. but sitemailing it to a coach who is not in that world cannot possibly be a problem. even a coach in a different division should be fine, although there is possibly overlap with high d1 and low d2, and high d3 and low d2. if you are not in the same geographic region in the same division, i think you are probably covered really, just like the WIS rules regarding 2 teams in the same world by the same coach.

Actually, I've culled my list of teams WAAAAAAAY back. I once had either 5 or 6, and after next season, it's just going to be this one. You'd think I'd have figured more out by now, but it's fairly easy to win at the D-3 level, and I figured out enough stuff to rebuild Lynn at D-2. I had just heard that D-1 was such a different animal that I didn't want to fall on my face out of the gate.

As for getting in touch with another coach through sitemail, I got to know the guys over in GD a lot better than I've gotten to know any of the other players in HD. Not really sure why. But now that I know that it's a technical violation to post what I did in the original post of this topic, I won't do it again. And with all the great information you guys have provided over these few threads I started, I feel like I'm on the right track toward getting the ball rolling at Campbell.

Thanks again!

Just for future reference, I think (even with the new Fair Play) you can - and perhaps should - come to the forum with questions. It's just that you shouldn't specifically identify players (or provide enough info that they can be easily identified).

What I sometimes do - and will continue to do likely - is take what I know about a player and project them. So, if I know he is high-high in speed, I take his current speed and add 30 (as a ballpark). I do that for each of the ratings, usually rounding to the nearest 5 (I tend to go low).

Then, I have a complete body of what the player should be when he is fully developed. If, after doing that, I have questions about how effective one recruit will be compared to another, I can post my projections as a hypothetical, because I won't be sharing any FSS info and it is (very) unlikely anyone can figure out who I am looking at and jump on them before I lock them up.

That's a really good idea, Zbrent. Is there some way to find out the "high-high" and all that before recruiting begins, or is it just through sending out your scouts?

Nope, just scouts, and I didn't mean to discourage you from asking stuff.

Not at all. I'm not a board regular, so I just wasn't aware of all the proper ways of doing things here in the forum.
