Improper substitutions in PBP? Topic

I think at 16:03 of the 2nd half in the game in question, it lists his starting C (Kevin Ruddy) playing the PG position.

That only lasted for 16 seconds though.

Just tell me where, on the clock, it shows a post player actually playing PG.

Well played, sir.

If the C was the only adequately rested player, I would expect it to work that way though.  You could shift everybody over a spot, but that would wind up resulting in A) probably a more effective lineup but B) several players out of position relative to the depth chart.  The engine is always going to stick to your depth chart as closely as possible, and the way it worked out only one guy had to play out of position.  So yes, it looks ridiculous, but it's really the closest it can get to following your explicit recommendations as far as who you want playing where.  This is why I only very rarely put 3 guys on the depth chart at any given position and never 2.

Thanks guys. The out of position issues were usually 30 seconds or less it seemed, but just happened quite a bit and I was just wondering why since I had not noticed it happening before. It brought some obvious concern where a guy completely out of position could mean the difference in a close game.

I will start adding more guys on the depth chart as the lesson learned I guess. The reason I stopped doing that in the first place was issues where a guy I didn't really want to come in unless absolutely needed were getting more minutes on the floor than I wanted and taking time from starters, but its been awhile where I've had a situation where I needed 1 guy starting in 1 spot and backing up another. Big miss in recruiting threw off my rotation.

if ruddy makes the free throw at 1603 of said game the subs would have come in. but since he missed had to wait for next dead ball to enter subs,as you can see at 1547. no hd expert but thats what i see when reading the pbp.
