I hope this isn't veering too far off the original question - What if someone sitemails you, telling you about a player who's in your backyard who was considering them for no reason and hoping you'd get them to consider you so it doesn't look like they're in any battles?

That doesn't always take you off the considering list. Â Especially when it's someone considering you with no effort on the first cycle - those guys can sometimes be a pain to get off of your list.
if you've tried everything and you can't get him off your list on your own...that could be a serious issue. it could make other teams think you're more spread out than you are, exactly as the first guy stated.
i challenged someone to a battle partially because a player 1000 miles away was considering him, and it turned he didn't actually put in any effort. questionable decision by me? sure. unfair to him? yup.
