So, Diunc31...

What do you make of this?  Do you see a relationship between AAA success and the standings?

I'm in first place in a weak division, and my AAA hitters are performing right about league average.  I'm using them a bit more than some other teams, beacuse I have a fairly large lead, and I want my key players rested for the playoffs. 

My pitching.... I'm really not using my AAA pitchers very much.  They fill in occasionally when my RP's are a bit fatigued.  I have good stats, but it's small sample size... in 32 IP, I am having above expected results from one pitcher, and the other isn't coming up to the majors any more. 

I totally accept league average AAA hitters.  I don't expect much (at all) from  below-avg AAA pitchers, so getting even 32 IP of acceptable (1.50 WHIP) in a Long A role is fine with me.  But I think I'm getting good results because of how I'm using the players... Nobody is pitching tired (which I think is one reason for horrible AAA results on some tieams).

I have not researched NL as much.  There appears to be quite a difference between depth of quality teams in the two leagues.  I made predictions for the 4 playoff teams
in AL.  The teams that I thought would be the best are certainly within reach of playoffs.  Yes, I still believe aaa guys make a difference when teams are very close in strength.  Data does not change that for me in low caps.  It supports it.  Quality aaa prospects with high obp will do very well in low cap leagues. AAA guys with a good
ab/hr will also do well in low caps.  I love low caps.  I still hate aaa prospects.  You put great owners and decent below average aaa guys together and you get a playoff team unless they are in a superior division.  (Divisional races make a huge difference for rest.)

I think the luck of the teams in your division matters MUCH more than the AAA players you draw.  In a tight division, I'm playing my key players more, and a little tired, to make sure I win.  If I have a big lead, my AAA guys will get more PA.  If I am losing badly... I might not give the league my full attention, adjusting it every couple of days instead of nearly every day. 

I think the AAA draw has, at best, a 1-2 wins impact on the entire season.  The division line up is more like 4-5 games (playing 36 games against .600 teams versus 36 against .400 teams)

I also think manager/gm abilities have a 2-3 game impact on the season.  Who you bring up, when, how you prepare for the season...

Just my view... You see things differently, and I don't expect to change your opinion.

Although, I must admit.... I'm trying to work this difference of opinion into a theme league. 

I can really see a managers challenge coming out of this... I'm working on the details.
