because I'm a 40+ year suffering Cubs fan who wishes he could go back in time, call the shots, and maybe win a couple of World Series along the way, especially in 1984 & 2003...if y'all do mind I gotta go with my hometown Cubbies & try to bring home the hardware to Chicago & Wrigleyville

Chicago, Wrigley

right on - welcome to the party, Steve -
gonna be really similar to beernoser's contract League as far as sending in daily sitemail bids
ut keeping the contacts the same price each year with Owners right to end the contract any season (up to the 5 year max)

I've never done a draft like this, but I'm game to try...I'll take the new york mets at shea.

you got it, coyote - it's a fairly simple process - There'll be a list of players each day & everyone sends in a bit on whatever players they want from the daily list & sitemail how much you are willing to pay- highest bidder wins & that becomes the Contract Price against the $70 mil cap.

Let's say REGGIE JACKSON is up for bid on Day 5 List & all 16 teams throw out a bid via sitemail & you're the highest bidder @ $6.5 million.
Reggie Is yours for up to 5 years @ $6.5 million per season. (1970-1974) after which Reggie would become a free agent again before the 1975 season. If Reggie had a lousy 1972 season & you wanted to cut him before the 1972 season rather than pay him $6.5 mil. You cut him then & he'd become a free agent for the 1972 Auction

thanks. I think I get it.
So you can overpay for somebody knowing that you're not really saddled with that contract past the first year?
2/22/2016 1:34 PM
you got it - or under pay & roster someone on the cheap that has future value

New concept to me and I'll give it a try in the Astrodome, thanks.

Are trades allowed that put a team's "salary" over $70 million?
2/22/2016 8:41 PM
hey welcome Yaz & dahs - as far as trade leeway, good question- I added a clause into the League to allow a $10 mil cushion into the League Rules. Within Season- I think $10 million over cap would be enough margin to allow for a trade or two without letting anyone completely buy the farm out from all of the other teams. AND you can build Cash into any trade- trade a portion of the next years salary up to & including the same $10 mil over cap allowance.

it's a bit more involved then a straight progressive- but it's not too complex.
15 Days of players up for silent auction bid alphabetically by position. High Bid wins.
What you win the bid for is what you pay each year - max 5 years - cut anytime before 5 years.
