This team is the kind that I'd find infuriating to play against, which I think is a good thing! Having a reasonable lineup with both Greinke and Pedro in an OL is pretty scary. Petco will save you a bit where you're short on PAs and IPs so I think it'll work out.

I also found a solid Al Kaline that fits our parameters here:
1971 Al Kaline, 501 PA, .302/.422/.471 #adjusted, A+/D- at both 1b and OF
- good 2/3 hitter for this team, especially in a Petco given his bb rate; I like the Tenace/Zobrist high bb guys in Petco and Kaline fits that mold

interested to see how it goes! and if it's worth paying up for those SPs as opposed to using our <4mm hitters and 1-2 sluggers (like the $6.5mm Babe) and playing anywhere but Petco

Love the Kaline idea. Had one so-so experience w/ Zobrist and haven't used him since, though everyone else does. I also really like the idea of going with 6 cheap position players and 2 sluggers (maybe the $6.5MM Babe you suggested and a SIM cookie like Bonilla or Sierra, who consistently overindex)?

'24 and '26 Lu Blue fill the 1B slot very nicely. There are a few Maury Wills seasons to use. Ditto for Max Bishop. '61 Albie Pearson, and there's usable Cap Anson and Jimmy Ryan seasons too.

Well it was only a test in a Spring League but sample bias be damned, this team just went 10-0 for me:

Oh and I played in Petco. I ended up out-homering opponents 11-0 and fatigue didn’t seem like as much of an issue as I expected (despite scoring 10+ 4x and no AAA) so maybe I’ll try the Kingdome next. That will still save some ABs but won’t depress my huge power advantage. That Oscar Gamble season is a total steal and might be worth a look as a full time platoon too!
