Would it be helpful to post the league rules in this thread too, so we don't have to go back and forth to the signup thread to check on the cap, remember if there is or is not a DH, etc. Also, guaranteed someone is going to forget the 1969-2019 rule....

Ask and ye shall receive:

Franchise Draft 3.0 - 2019 Edition

Back again by popular demand for a third season! This will be a 24-round draft, drafting from a different franchise each round. Once we get 24 owners, we will randomly assign a first round draft order, and each owner will be randomly assigned a franchise (franchises listed below).

We will then conduct a 24-round draft (on-the-clock) where each round every owner selects a player from the franchise assigned to that round (1969-2019 seasons only). The owner with the 1st pick gets to take any 2 players from their assigned franchise - i.e. “Double 1st Pick."

Twist – You MAY select a player from one of the franchises not being used (see below) with one (1) of your Double 1st Picks. The idea here is to offer additional options for those franchises with weaker top-end talent. This option is ONLY available to be used with one of your Double 1st Picks; this is not available for ANY selections following each round's Double 1st Pick. Stadium used must still be from your assigned franchise. Note that you may still follow the traditional format of the league and select two players from your assigned franchise.

Players are exclusive WITHIN franchises, but are not exclusive across franchises.

Example – During the Boston round, once Pedro Martinez gets selected, he is off the board for the rest of the Red Sox round. However, when we get to the Mets or the Montreal/ Washington round, someone can select a version of Pedro from those franchises. This means clones ARE allowed, as someone could possibly take 2 or more versions of a player with different franchises.

We will draw a random order for round 1, and then simply slide everyone down one pick every round (1 moves to 2. . . .2 moves to 3. . . .etc, with 24 moving to 1).

$120M cap. For a little fun and change in strategy, the DH will not be used during the 2019 Edition.

Your ballpark will be based on whatever franchise you are assigned. You can take any park that franchise used between 1969 – 2019. Yes, this means if you get the Cubs as your franchise, you will play in Wrigley. If you draw the Dodgers, you are in Dodger Stadium. The nice part is you will know what park you are in before we draft. For that matter, you will also know which other owners will be in your division.

The Details:
Standard 24-team league
On-the-clock draft
$120M cap

Okay, I've read the rules and re-read them again and again. I think I understand and I think I know what I'm doing. Yeah, right...

First two picks:

1986 Mike Scott - Houston Astros
1997 Larry Walker - Colorado Rockies

Do we need to specify the year chosen when drafting?

On behalf of our Commish, the answer to your question is ”NO”.
11/12/2019 8:37 PM
Juice I believe you have to pick 2 Houston Astros with your first 2 picks
11/12/2019 9:06 PM
No, in the first rd only, when you have 2 picks, you can take 1 player from a team not being used, so juice is good.

Disco is correct. You may pick a player from a team not being used with one of your Double 1st Picks.

Likewise Boddicker is correct about including the year not being required. Any full/partial season by a player from that franchise is fair game.

Thanks Bodd and DD for the assist!!
