I am really interested in seeing how the Pitching teams do vs the Hitting teams in aggregate. The general rule has always been that good pitching beats good hitting and if that holds true, that would mean that there will be more "Over.500" pitching teams than "Over.500" hitting teams. This would mean that those choosing pitching would need to spend more on pitching relative to $55 million, than those choosing hitting.
I said I would pick last, but am contemplating taking a team on each side... but will wait to see how quickly this fills. It's only been a day and we are over half full.
I actually don't think this is going to be the case. Having built both of my teams, I can say that I spent more on Hitting with my Hitting team than I did with Pitching on my Pitching team.
To be honest, I think there is a minimum amount of money that one needs to spend for both hitting and pitching in order for the team to be viable. That number is higher for hitting than it is for pitching. This is probably because of those dynamic pricing updates that happened some time ago, which pushed up the price of the most commonly used cookie hitters (it affected pitchers too, but there are quite a few cheap semi-effective deadballer pitchers still available).
