By the way, in MLB, the commissioner's office must approve any deal involving over $1M in cash. So any argument that it is common in MLB to buy players above this amount is false.
I saw at least 5 mlb trades listed in 2019 that involved cash and at least one of those was a player for cash only?

Cash considerations in MLB often means $50K (Rule 5 fee) or even as low as $1. Players being sold for millions doesn't happen in MLB.

I saw at least one player for cash only in 2019. I only spent about 2 minutes looking.

So no player has ever been traded for more then $ 1 million?

I'm not aware of any MLB player being sold for over $1M, which makes sense given that commish approval would be required.

There is nothing wrong with cash for a player. A player has a certain value to each team. Just like cash has value. They’re not two different categories.

It's too late now. I missed out on the intl prospect by about 1.1 million. This is the third season in a row in this World where I have missed out on a top intl by less than $1.5 million. I need to rethink how I spend.

I usually spend an extra $1.5 million on stocking my minors and I purchase mid tier intl prospects throughout the season. Or, maybe I should grab one earlier instead of waiting to see how the draft goes.

If the topic is this divisive, I am glad I didn't go through with it. I am sure the guy who got him is to.

From what I have seen it’s either draft or ints. I don’t think I have seen anyone that can effectively do both. I prefer the draft. Some people prefer the INTs. It is what it is.

Just depends on if your particular world is going for some level of realism or not (when it comes to high cash value purchases).

I like the 1.5 rule you have in Moonlight. However, if the rule isn't in place, I would guess that cash trades are fair game. Sometimes this game isn't just about learning how to budget, rate players, coach players, manage players and scout players.

Sometimes it is also about playing the game to a certain audience. Each owner needs to adapt to the World in which their team(s) reside. Based on my brief discussion with some folks in this particular World that I am in, cash is like any other asset and if I went through with the trade and people didn't like it, they can bring it up via discussion, but it most likely would not have changed anything.

I would say it is more realistic to allow it as it is more normal from what I see to cover salaries etc. But hey the transaction histories they show are so vague its all just off of memory.

Including cash to cover part of a traded players salary was not what the OP was posting about. Selling a player outright for over $500K is something that worlds which favor realism shouldn't allow.

So what if a minor leaguer is included? In real life we do not have projections like this game?

To play the contrarian, Babe Ruth was sold for $1.5M in today's money.
