It's possible, At Texas in Wooden, I successfully redshirted a junior who was on the big board at the time. We are about 15 games in and he's fallen off the big board, but thankfully accepted the redshirt without any issues.
Holy crap...this is incredible.

What does a negative reaction to a redshirt look like? If you get said negative reaction -- you can remove the redshirt and its like nothing ever happened?

One time I had 3 bigs in a class together. WIS deleted all my credits and put all of my teams on secret probation so that they never made it out of the 1st round of NT.

Let it be a lesson to everyone who reads this.

This is accurate. But to slow it down a bit, and add an additional point.......

Let's say a player has 70 WE to start. If you offer the redshirt, he'll send you a ccomplaint thru email. Then you take a look at the player. Sometimes the WE drops all the way to 1. Obviously you wouldn't want that. So if you remove the redshirt, it will completely restore to the full 70.

But there are times where it may only drop from 70 to 50 for example. At that time, you have a choice to make. Removing the redshirt will restore WE back to 70. But you can also choose to just keep the player redshirted if you're ok with the 50 WE. What's important is that you make a decision and stick with it. Because if you restore it to 70, and realize that you you would've been ok with the redshirt and 50 WE, it's too late. The second time you try to redshirt it will no longer be 50, and it will drop more significantly. Maybe down to 20.

I learned this very early in my career. I was new and some coaches here told me to send a ticket to seble, and he helped me get the WE back to the "50" (comparing MY situation to the example I used above). And then MikeT and others in the forums chewed me out for having seble help me fix my issue. And everyone hated me blah blah blah.

I mean, gil still throws stones at me in other threads!

i guess its reasonable to ticket to get redshirt WE back but not for forgetting to renew a long time program during a pandemic =)

(i know that was never your point)

Yup, sorry, bad joke. I also find it mildly annoying when I have 2 bigs in 2 consecutive classes. Like 2 seniors and 2 juniors.

Hahaha! I like it! But I've evolved as a coach. When I was new I was dumb as could be. So i needed that ticket (no matter how dumb, i NEVER needed a ticket to renew my team. That's impossible to forget!)

Eh I get that part as well. I don't mind that as much. But I do usually try to break it up. Like

Sr PF and C
Jr PF
Soph PF and C

I'm hoping this will allow me to keep him his (2nd) junior and senior year now. He is mostly orange and red, so I don't think he'll climb the board anymore. If he didn't take the redshirt I could have lost him after this season.

I'm going to have 3 bigs as SO in Bloomfield next year as well as 2 bigs as juniors and 0 bigs as fr/sr. Nice.
