2020 Season RL vs WIS Topic

A conference call among owners is imminent. I gotta believe Porky says "That's all, folks!"...

You will see more players opt out until it is called off.

An NBA player is being investigated for possibly visiting a strip club. You can't keep these guys in a bubble. They have money and access to too much candy. We will probably see everything canceled until Spring.

Given today's news about the Marlins, I will be very surprised if MLB is still continuing any attempt at a season one week from now. Playing any team sports right now is reckless and irresponsible. Shut them all down.
I agree. Miss baseball, but really, this is not working, and is putting people at too much risk.

Just to give a sense of proportion: One of the colleges I teach for offers courses at nearby US military bases.

THEY have decided to hold classes exclusively using Zoom/live streaming for the Fall semester. So, ask yourselves, what is reasonable on the part of civilian parts of the economy, if military bases are not going to have classes held in person in physical classrooms?

One player has a heart problem.
it is a shame but it was an experiment that failed and is too dangerous for players to risk careers if not more.

14 Marlins players/coaches have tested positive. Phils players have to report today to be tested then return home.

I'm thinking that MLB will call the whole thing off.

What a disaster.

"The Marlins learned Sunday morning that their starting pitcher for the afternoon and two other players had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be unable to play. An apparent coronavirus outbreak was underway in the visiting clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park and the Marlins responded by asking their shortstop to determine if the game against the Phillies would be played.

“He’s kind of an unofficial team captain of our club,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said of Miguel Rojas. “He’s always texting the group and getting the feelings of the group. So when we’re dealing with situations or things, that’s usually who we’re working through.”

Major League Baseball issued a 113-page operations manual to all club employees before the start of the season. It outlines everything from on-field rules to testing procedures and what happens if a player tests positive. But Sunday afternoon, the status of the game amid a coronavirus outbreak was decided by a group text-message between Marlins players."

Phils for 2nd day have no positive tests, but MLB has postponed games tonight, tomorrow, and Thursdsy because of the Marlins.

The Yanks will play Balt instead of Phils

For those of you in fantasy keeper leagues, pick up Toronto's Nate Pearson if you still can!

Yes, unless they decide to do something different this season, WIS uses a hard 50 AB, 25 IP cutoff for inclusion in the database - regardless of the number of games. See also 1995, 1994, 1981, 1972, any pre-1961 season, etc. It's always 50 AB, 25 IP.
Even if they finish the season, that will mean a remarkably low number of relievers make the sim. Maybe only a couple per team.

Reported today that a bunch of St. Louis Cardinals tested positive. Apparently some of them went to a casino.

At this rate we may not even see a single starting pitcher hit 25 innings...

It's hard to imagine how MLB can continue with this farce. They should shut this thing down immediately.

Hopefully though the experience thus far will be a much needed dose of reality to the crackpots who think the virus is fake news or some sort of Democrat conspiracy.
