Jeff Kent was apparently the consensus MVP in the year 2000. That MVP voting list is hilarious. Everybody and their mom hit 40HRs. Richard Hidalgo hit 40HRs. Vladimir Guerrero and Todd Helton hit 40HRs and crazy high AVG. Mike Piazza played C and managed to hit 38HR. Sammy Sosa hit 50HRs.

But who was OBVIOUSLY the bestplayer in the N.L.? Jeff Freakin Kent.

I agree on Kent. I would say he was one of the top 3 - 4 2nd basemen in MLB for several years. Yes, he was an *******, but it is she hall of fame, not thehall of nice guys.

Well, that's why Curt Schilling, Albert Belle, and Dick Allen aren't in the HOF.

I think Beltran will get the Roberto Alomar treatment, for his role in the Astros cheating scandal, and get a huge boost his second year on the ballot to gain election.

As a Phillys fan since the 1950s,I Totally disagree with you on Dick Allen. He was totally a victim of racism. A shy country kid from Wampum Pa he was sent to Little Rock Ark in the early 1960s and faced racist death threats there. In 1964 teammate Frank Thomas and rookie Allen had a fight. Management and racist Philly fans blamed Allen. When his playing career ended Allen worked community relations for the Phils. Most fans grew to love him and supported his HOF canadacy. He should of gone in the Hall with the last veterans committee , by missed but one.

He is the only nonHOFer to have his number retired by the Phillies.

I can't believe he missed out last year by the VC!

well, I don't think Schilling or Belle belong in the Hall. Allen definitely does. There are a few guys who aren't in there because they were ********. But some ******** get in.
I'd be more interested about the guys who should be there, and weren't ********. Dale Murphy, and Rolen come to mind.

The Veteran's Committee vote is going to be very interesting next Sunday.

How will this revamped (AGAIN) committee treat Bonds, Clemens, Schilling, and Palmeiro?

Something tells me a guy like Dale Murphy might benefit from the HOF board's attitude towards convicted and perceived steroid users.

He might be an *******...don't know too much about him, other than he was a great 3B and I don't remember hearing anything bad about him.
