I have come to believe that the defense rating matters very little in the Zone defense. That said, I also play the Press, so Donald Burns was not my first choice for my SF spot (that honor went to Demetrius Davis, a Penn State signee). Still, I really like most everything else about Burns. I think he'll turn out nearly as well as Robert Thompson has, even though he won't be seeing any significant PT his freshman year.
Two stars, 61st ranked SF, unranked overall. He'll be a depth player for this year and have the inside track for the starting job next year.

Patrick Richards will be redshirting, and I'm just thrilled to have him. I think he's going to be a super player for me, continuing my history of strong frontcourt play. With his work ethic, Richards will develop phenomenally well.

Four stars, 31st ranked PF, 154th ranked overall. If a redshirt can be the star of a recruiting class, then Richards is exactly that.
10/5/2007 8:20 PM
Nice class; if you get that guard you're golden. Richards reminds me a lot of Chad Jones (not surprising since you thought he'd make an excellent rs candidate as well). During the offseason Jones went up 36 points overall, including 5 in both ath and def. Richards will be a monster by the time he is a junior.

Shue is like my Chia Pet. With his ratings and WE, he's going to improve steadily throughout his career, and might even make it to the NBA at the end. Right now he doesn't look like too much, but he'll be fun to watch grow.

I thought about challenging Penn State for Davis after they knocked me off the first time. After sleeping on it, I decided to go after Burns instead.

against Manhattan, I was favored by 9 and won by 19. We were led by Fanelli, Thompson, and Sayers (who was the player of the game, and rightfully so, with 15 points and 13 rebounds, a block and a steal).
Tonight, a big test.
I've decided to move Fanelli to SG and Jordan to PG, because I think Jordan matches up better at that position and Fanelli will be able to be more of a scorer from the 2-guard spot without hurting the way the team runs.

GG you had there. If that is how my guys were going to shoot...no amount of gameplanning was going to save me.

Jordan and Fanelli are an incredible backcourt tandem...they should take you far this year. Only real consolation I can take from this game is that Mack and Huling managed to hold their own against those two.

Look forward to our next meeting.

Giles is playing very well as the backup to both Fanelli and Jordan.

If there's anything to complain about here, I suppose it's the turnovers. Hey, a coach needs some sort of lesson for his players to take from any game. We held them to 13 in the second half.

We were favored by 16.5 and won by 31.

Next, a tough test at djbrewer0808's 13th ranked Washington.

I should've run a slowdown against their fullcourt press, but I went uptempo with the hope that it would cause them foul trouble while I stayed out of foul trouble. Didn't work out that way, and after leading by 1 at the halfway point of the game, Fordham loses by 19.
