New Guys filled. Amazing. MLHB could fill someday without a bailout...you just never know.

*something* must have happened ... I'm far too lazy to look into it, but there has to be a reason why you lost 9 owners this past season

and you've mentioned that good franchises were dumped, which makes it all the more puzzling

what is the make-up of the 9 that ? were they one-and-done? did they have multiple teams and were cutting back? was there an "issue" about a transaction or owner conduct?

there HAS to be a story here

28% departure is a lot for a good world with good teams.
12/1/2008 2:26 PM
A couple one and dones. A couple of owners who have been in the league since the start that are leaving. A couple of teams that have begun the rebuilding process but the owners aren't going to stick around for the finished product. I imagine some owners were cutting back on teams, but I really don't know why we are having trouble filling. I've been in the league since its inception and there have been very few trades that have ruffled feathers. To be honest, my 8 seasons in UBA Inc have gone more smoothly than my four seasons in Mathewson.
12/1/2008 2:30 PM
I bet an owner's list from last season would help unravel the mystery.

I am in UBA and I dont know what the issue is. We generally have pretty low turnover and a lot of original owners. We also have very little drama, few trade vetoes, no alias problems (that I know of), and I have a dynasty going. All signs of a decent world.

However, the last role-over was very slow and this one seems brutal.
12/1/2008 2:35 PM
Maybe they were spooked by my wildcard team beating 3 100+ game winners en route to the ws title. Seriously though, UBA is a well run, competitive league with no idiots running rampant, very rare trade vetoes, no nastiness etc. Hard to explain why so many .

You asked for a owners list and since it's private and in role-over..

Well, I might be mistaken. I only see one who's a "forum troublemaker". That, in and of itself, doesn't mean much in leagues that can handle it but it can rip up one that can't.
12/1/2008 2:42 PM
On the other hand, I've only played against one owner in that league so I'm not familiar with how anyone there "works".
12/1/2008 2:44 PM
I'm thinking that the 4 AL teams with 105+ wins might be a sign ... except that 2 of those ... but 4 bottom dwellers too, so maybe everybody knows that can't compete

just from looking in the standings, I don't see a lot of parity ... I don't how or why you got there, but I don't think I'd want to jump in there
12/1/2008 3:47 PM
The Cleveland and New York teams in the AL are college buddies so I'm guessing one decided to leave and the other followed.

You've helped us out in Harold Reynolds a couple of times... any idea what's holding up that league?

The losses seem to be long-term owners... four have cut down to just one league (Schtickless for all four). Another two were two-season owners, one of whom made the playoffs last season... the other had 82 and 83 win seasons.

notice how Bricklayers II and sandlot are going the wrong way. Like I said - they are already doomed with HBD the way it currently is, with all these owners just sitting around and waiting as some suggested would happen. Its gonna be like this for those high opening leagues as other more fillled leagues (in an unsportsman-like but justified effort) continue to pick off the owners with struggling teams in these deserted leagues and get them to spend their money in a league where they will start sooner and with a better team. Its not right - but the current system enables, if not forces, owners to take these steps.

The second point is that wis might as well take the bailout package off the table for MLHB as these two other worlds approach the point of more than 50% ownership vacancy.
