STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS 2009-10 Topic

Also.... bet updates....

As for frolik.... hes a chump. Reminds me of voracek (with less speed and worse puckhandling)... dude is snakebit when it comes to scoring. Im pretty confident frolik is under 20 goals this season.

Hawks have 50 points and 23 wins almost halfway through the season.... The Avs are the 10 seed with 41 points and 20 wins. That means the 10 seed is not far behind (3 win differencial, 9 points). Hawks will probably make the playoffs.... BUT its not gonna be easy considering the hawks have a much much much more challenging schedule the next half of the season and they havent been tested this season with adversity due to injuries (which virtually every team faces at one point or another). Props to them winning the easy games they should be winning.... i didnt expect they would have 50 points right now.

From now til jan 31 hawks will face detroit 3x, nash 2x, sj, vancouver, minn, philly, buffalo, and florida.... the only gimmies are colorado, edmonton, and columbus. Based on how well the hawks played agains lak, sj, and pitt this month i have a feeling they arent holding the 1 seed come february 1st ;)

Those were 3 hard fought games, the type you would expect between possible Stanley Cup contenders.  The Blackhawks were not overly out-played in any of those games, there were stretches when their play was lackadaisical but they also put together strong stretches of play.

The schedule is harder and it will be a test for the Hawks, which as a fan you want to see because it gives you a better idea of what to expect come playoff time.  And yes, with tougher opponents there is the likelihood that the are not holding the top seed but expecting them to drop down to the fringe of playoff contention is a little far-fetched.

We will see how far-fetched it is come feb 1. Imo the Hawks are still missing big pieces (offensive scoring depth, special teams, defensive depth, and/or high end goaltending) that legit stanley cup contenders typically have. I wouldnt be surprised to see them in 5th or 6th come feb 1 behind detroit, sj, van, and stl. Time will tell ;)

It would seem that there is a new NHL goals leader...now, a player in that position has to be of "elite" quality, no? lol.
It would seem so.... can he finish the season like that.  Thats the question.  Last season he scored 1 goal in 13 games to wrap it up.
the cream is rising to the top....

Giroux, Malkin, H Sedin are the 'legit' contenders for the hart trophy.

Hawks/Wings tonight... Hawks have struggled this season against teams in the top half of the league standings. This is a big test to wrap up 2011.
The same way you claim the hawks could easily fall to 5th or 6th by Feb, hossa or toews or both could easily get hot and lead the league in multiple categories. So why is the argument good enough one way and not the other?

They could... although toews has never done it. Giroux hasnt either... but scoring seems natural to him (reminds me of forsberg). Sedin and malkin are proven and in their primes. Then again toews or hossa could get hot ;)

I also dont think kessel will stick in the top 3.

Let's not forget hossa has multiple 40 goal seasons and a 100 point season to his credit.

Canucks and the Sedin Sisters have this wrapped up..give the Canucks a thug and we eat up the league ,already tied for first after a horrendous start ..all this team  needs is a psychopath  who loves the site of blood and will do anything to satisfy his craving and its another cup final

why Gillis refuses to address this issue is beyond me ?  but that little puke Marchand will not be face washing our Sedin if he fears for his french p#ssy

Now that was playoff hockey in December!  If the Hawks play with that intensity, I can safely say they will still be atop the Western Conference come Feb. 1.

for sure... IF. IF the hawks let teams like pitt jump to a 3-0 lead or la to a 2-0 lead i can safely say they wont ;)

Good win for the hawks... they played well last night.

I really thought Jimmy Hayes looked good on that line with Bruno and Mayers. He's one of the more interesting prospects in the system because of his shear size.

One thing about this game: Man, Lidstrom looks like he can play another 10 years. He's unbelievable.
