Why move up when the job or jobs I have wanted have not been open since early on when I began playing? That's my point. I don't want to to move up to DI and hope that the job I want opens up. I would rather stay in DIII with the program I have already built.

Why not build a DI program? If you do well, they could become a perrenial power. Even if they are not in an elite conference.
The odds you get the program you want, if it is in an elite conference, are slim, no matter who you are.
exactly, there are only 8 people who can get Duke, or UK, or any other elite out there. How many people have we heard whine because they couldn't get their favorite elite job? That is a stupid reason to quit. Guess what percentage of coaches in real life actually get to their dream school. Opening up a new world isn't going to change that at all. Every world so far seems to have top level job open up every job cycle, whether it be from a coach retiring or a firing. You don't see all the coaches in the NCAA whining that coach K got to Duke first and now we can't get our dream job, boo-hoo

if the promo runs through the opening of the new world, there will be several new aliases popping up and taking several free teams in the new world hoping that it moves them up the ladder the quickest.....

Allowing existing users to sign up with aliases for free does nothing to "create the addiction".

True. All very true. I am pointing out the intention. Not necessarily the reality.

LOL!
The reality is that this isn't the last time they did the promo and world opening. It is this time. The demand (yes a lot of it could be false demand) is very strong and they are trying to capitalize on it. Right or wrong, we will get another world. It will fill at first and all the other worlds will have full or close to full D3's with more full D2's. Are many of the new users old user alias'? Yup. How many? What percentage? We don't know. How many of the real new users and alias new users will stay? How many are from owners who already had 8 teams? Or already had a Tark team and wanted another? Some. How many? We don't know.
But we will by season three of the new world. Keep tracking the data, it will be interesting. And if we didn't like analysing data we would be addicted to this game. LOL!

Looks like 60 or so players stuck around. That's not so bad. It could have been a bigger flop.

I stuck around. Bought a 12 pack so I'll be around awhile.

I probably never would have tried HD without the promotion, and now I'm pretty much addicted. If there are another 100 or so people like me spread over all the worlds, I'd say it was a pretty big success.

I agree - tough to see what the problem is. You look at this thread and it started a long time ago lamenting the decline of the game. I've joined since then, so have plenty of others.

People get ****** about the new worlds, but I am loving them. It is easy to get down on your coaching ability when others have a built in advantage of many years at their current schools. Sure, it is a good challenge, but starting from the ground in Phelan and Knight has reassured me that I'm not as bad of a coach as taking on established programs in Rupp and Tark might have made me believe.

If the goal is to have every single world at 100% human coached, then there are ways they could ensure that, but I like it the way it is compared to the tradeoffs in time and opportunity that would required to ensure that all of my opponents are humans. I'm fine with most of them being humans.

mark - in 12 seasons (since I've been tracking) the Smith world has grown by 27 coaches (2.8%), or roughly 2 per season.

At least for the Smith World, it's hard to argue the game is growing at all. For every new coach Smith gets, it seems like another one hangs it up.
