I would guess it would have more to do with the schedule being generated rather than rollover. So if you care about seeing this ASAP, you may have to delay approving owners for a couple of days.

That will be my players. I have a guy who is 93 rating right now in AAA, he tops out at 100 but with only 3 seasons in the pros I see no reason to start the clock on his big pay days.

Well, he might actually help you win. That's one reason to start the clock.

No this update will be available immediately. Your world would be eligible to participate in all of the HOF features right away.

If we allow for this to happen the list will be very, very long and unmanageable. I addressed that a few pages back.

patrick... can you please define "unmanageable"? I really can't believe than an "unmanagable" number of players play 10 seasons in the major leagues.

Even if you pick a league at random (preferably one that has played 15 or 16 seasons), and just give a number of how many players played 10 Major League seasons, that'd be great.

(Just curious.. thanks)

What do you mean immediately? It was my understanding that this was to be an offseason activity. So if your world is already underway when it is added, how exactly will we be participating right away?

From the update announcement:

Schedule

Nominations begin on the first budget day and last through the cycle in which the Rule 5 draft takes place.
Voting starts on the same cycle as the Rule 5 Draft and lasts until the first day after spring training.

So I would assume that any world in-progress that has not yet reached the R5 draft will be able to participate.

As someone mentioned, my concern would be with schedule generation. The event schedule will obviously change, there is an "Announce HOF Results" slot listed in the middle of coach hiring. While the new events will run concurrent with other events, the schedule will look different.

Good point and we may have to make some manual adjustments for display purposes only but the overall schedule or the way that it simulates will not be affected.

Below are the effects of some changes using test production data for the Ruth world simulated through season 17.

The first line of values is strictly using MLB years and the second line is accounting for actual seasons played where seasons are greater than or equal to 5. This is to account for good players that were generated with MLB years when the world was created.

Requirements of 50G or 150IP and 400PA

71 Position Players / 34 Pitchers
118 Position Players / 61 Pitchers

Requirements of 40G or 115IP and 300PA

99 Position Players / 71 Pitchers
133 Position Players / 114 Pitchers

Requirement of only 10 MLB years

240 Position Players / 242 Pitchers

Right off the bat I'm going to say we are not going to allow for the page to retrieve 240+ players to display. No one wants to wade through that many players especially when a large percentage of them aren't even qualified to be on that list and we don't want a slow loading page that brings back that amount of unnecessary data.

I like the idea of accounting for players that were generated with MLB years as long as they played a few seasons. I think that is viable and that criteria will slowly fizzle out as worlds get more mature.

So there you have it guys. What do you think?

Definitely looks like a great compromise and with it nealy doubling the amount of pitchers eligible from the 50G requirements looks like it has value

Looks reasonable. Thanks for the data, patrick.

Looks like you lowered the pitching minimums too much.

These are just threshholds for nomination right? Each team will only be able to nominate players that have played for their franchise, so the list for each team will be very manageable, even if the only requirement is 10 ML seasons played. That is, unless, every owner sees the full list of all players who can be nominated, even if they can't nominate them personally.

Many players play for several teams.
