The Old Shoe: Monopoly Discussion Thread Topic

We've had a lot of discussion about the interpretation and clarification of league rules throughout the many pages of this thread. Is there any way to get a composite league rules thread put together? Or the classified ad revised to include discussions in that thread as well as this one?

It doesn't necessarily have to be done immediately, but this would help clarify the post-bid draft and eliminate errant bids in the future. Thank you for all your hard work Matt. Could not have done it without you.

All done.  Put it in a separate thread.  It's fairly extensive and I think it pretty much covers all the bases.

Maybe a sitemail blast to everyone with open slots informing them that all units have been unleashed should be helpful to get this wrapped up on the earlier side.  It seems that not everyone is paying attention at the moment.

Not a bad idea, deanod.  I did hit pugs with another sitemail to that effect last night.

Pugs might just be the guy who lands on property in Monopoly and just decides not to buy it.  At least it beats inattention.

It looks like cubieblu and ctorriente are the only other guys who have open units and haven't checked in recently.

Just sent them both a sitemail.

well, I guess I get lucky with ctorriente/cubie/kneeneighbor either not around or not interested in bidding...thrilled to get TOR infield and SP units for 5 apiece, although maybe I would rather have had that SF infield unit for 13 (45 minutes away!)

Yeah, things happen.  I thought I was going to get Pittsburgh's RP cheap since no one bid on it initially, but that didn't go as planned.

Deanod, I was actually typing your fine letter when I remembered the trade.

so - any monetary transaction made before everyone has filled all of their units affects draft position in the supp. draft, correct? and i assume that the supp. draft order locks as soon as everyone has filled their units, so any monetary transactions made after the supp. draft order has been set would no longer affect draft order?

Yes.  I know it creates a bit of a loophole in a sense but the only way to close it would have been to prohibit trading after the close of auctions, which I didn't want to do.

Pugs is here!

Made a slight addition to the rules, but it's something that makes sense and shouldn't affect strategy . This will apply over the next few days.  If no one else is eligible to raise a bid (for example, if 3 owners need to fill a unit type, 2 have bids out and the other is bankrupt), then there's no need to wait 24 hours- I'll close those immediately (as soon as I spot them).

For example, ct is now the only one without an IF unit.  As soon as he bids on his IF unit, I will close it and and award it to him, as obviously no one can raise.

I can't believe Halladay + Escobar only went for $42M.  I totally would have saved up for them and gone up to $61M if I had known that torriente and pugs wouldn't show up.

Lotta good looking teams out there.

abfball is going to be strong with Vlad, Posada, Rollins, Rolen, and the Seattle SP.

eman is stocked with some nice SP seasons between Doc, Escobar, Vazquez, and Pavano.

tarheels got some amazing bargains during the end- Tor SP, Tor IF, and Tampa RP for $20M is great, now he gets a high supp pick.

My Bonds + A-Rod duo would be so hated if this was real life.
