It's not unpopular on my side. The end will happen. If Jesus didn't know the exact hour, then I'm not going to try to predict. Could be tomorrow. Could be another 5,000 years. But signs are adding up.
To be clear, I don't mean "THE end", although yes, that is absolutely near as well. But rather the end of our nation being the world leader and beacon of light. That beacon has been dimming for quite some time and is barely visible at all anymore.

The book of Revelation is fascinating. Ever since I was a child I knew family members who ascribed to some form of "Holiness" denomination. They were very obsessed with trying to find the USA in there somewhere. We aren't.

I find Daniel chapter 7 very intriguing and also believe it affirms that we will be more inconsequential the closer we get to end.

verse 23 reads:

“He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it.

Many scholars agree this 4th kingdom was a reference to the Roman Empire, and I can think of nothing to disuade me from agreeing.

Of course, in hindsight we know that the Roman Empire did NOT conquer "the whole Earth", but rather they conquered the entirety of the Biblical world surrounding the Mediterranean and cradle of civilization.

That's where the end will begin as well.

I liken the exercise of trying to "predict" what Revelation is telling us to looking at a book shelf filled with knick knacks through a magnifying glass from 100 ft. away.
Everything is too blurry to have any real shot at identifying every object you're looking at BUT the closer we get the more things start coming into focus.

So many things in Revelation was thought to be symbolic or metaphorical as recently as 40 years ago. They HAD to be. Right?

A 200 million man army? Unfathomable. Yet today China has such an army.

"People from every race of people, tribe, language, and nation will look at the bodies of the two witnesses for three and a half days".

IMPOSSIBLE. Right? Today we have satellite TV. This is easy to accomplish now.

B Lee I think the US is alluded to in Revelation.. I recently saw a clip that made good sense. IF I can find it, I will post the link

I see the President(s) shaking hands with the pope, and He imo is an anti Christ, and the Vatican is the whore or revelation

'She sits on seven hills. Her colors are scarlet and purple' "The blood of the saints is on her hands' 'The whole world has committed adultery with her' and etc

There is a "great Bear" from the north referred to in Revelations. My Father (after much study) was convinced that The Great Bear was Russia.
Problem was He couldn't be positive it wasn't us, the Good ol USA!

Either way The Great Bear's entrance on the scene was the beginning of the end!

BTW, I see the resident Canuck poster is back at his Catholic hating again!
Still railing about the original Church of Christ being intrinsically evil...............
What a judgmental dope!!

You must have read the same KKK pamphlet that I did.

Yeah, the bear is supposed to be Russia and the Eagle of 4:7 and 8:4 is supposed to be us.

I don’t find it compelling but opinions differ.

Concerning the Roman Catholic Church, I won't speculate about any ties to the anti-christ, but they certainly have many teachings that seem to directly contradict scripture.

No one has a monopoly on explaining faith writings coming from 4 sets of writers at differing intervals of time writing for different audiences for different motivations none of which is proven or verifiable or indisputable and basic research tools do show the time line of the 4 gospels.
1. Mark
2. Matt
3. Luke
4. John

Some of the very finist biblical scholars of the gospels have studied which passages can be considered to have been the words of Jesus and which are not.

With basic contradictions - it is a given that some degree of doubt is intrinsic.

Re - The phrase used to send people to hell - with glee for many so called religious people - so called loving people - so called people who love God and Jesus and humanity.

I am the way - I am the truth - I am the light….

First of all - maybe it was never said by the real Jesus Schwartz….. So suspiciously intended for purposes of conversion. Which by the way - it has failed miserably
to make a dent in the 75% of the world population who sleep just fine even though some very sweet people contemplate the explosion of our heads in the end of days.

My opinion of the phrase. It was never intended to blow up heads and decimate the soul pool of almost the entire world. do

I read it to say - that Jesus lived his life in the one true godly way to live and his was the life you are to follow to get into heaven.
Whether you know of Jesus or do not know of Jesus if you live a moral life following in his footsteps then you will be in heaven.

If I was a christian that is how I would read it.

Any religion that relies upon threat is by very necessity a false and dishonest religion and far removed from any exalted status.

If the real Jesus was aware that his life was exploited to become the sentry for sending people to hell he would have been a shoe salesman instead.

I am waiting for a few people to say I am going to hell because I don’t believe that Jesus would send people to hell.
The wild and crazy irony.

Hey Kirk Cameron - you got a little ectoplasm on your right cheek.
7/21/2022 11:27 AM
I command nay nix - I commend you to read John Shelby Spong - passed at 90 years recently was an espiscopelelian bishop who wrote extensively on Jesus and christianity - a great man and an honest man of wisdom and sage insight. He wrote 54 books before his death in 2021.
Some of his great books are - Why Christianity Must Change or Die and The 4th Gospel - Tales of a Jewish Mystic.
He derided the belief in a false supernatural Jesus.

Another vital and extraordinary scholar of early christianity is John Dominic Crossan.
7/21/2022 11:49 AM
Another very important historian is Bart Ehrman.
