That's got to be an overstatement. If you drafted the rookie class of 1981 you'd just about have all-stars at every position by the middle of the decade. You could win 100+ games every year from 1984-1986.
I do not think so...here is my take on the line-up of the all-next year team - Feel free to swap in better players if you think I missed someone.
Great OF - Raines, George Bell, Barfield (there are many OF'ers next year), OK infield - 3B - Wallach, SS - Luis Aguayo (uggh - there really is no SS next year - Ripken is the next year), 2B - Sax, 1B - Hrbek, C - Tony Pena. The starting pitching is woeful - here is my stab at the top 4 - Fernando, Mike Witt, Dave Stewart, Pascual Perez...with many random relievers - probably Lee Smith to close.
That is a good team, but I see better teams being made right now.
