When does spring training start for the old Yankees?

Position players are required to report on the 23rd. I think some of the younger guys, Joba and Gardner in particular, are already there. I don't really know the pitcher/catcher date but I'm pretty sure it's next week.

Looks like you're 54-50. If you're in the playoff hunt and he's an upgrade, yes. If you're not or he's not, no. He's not on the 40. No need to burn an option and move him closer to arb/FA with no real reason.

Call him up after roster expansion but put him on your 40 beforehand so he'll be playoff-eligible. Then you can demote him once you're eliminated(but, if you win the WS, you can't) and reset his salary to 55K. So, if nothing else, you'll save 270k to start next season if you want to start him in the minors again and maybe play with his service time.
