Franchise Draft 1969-2018 Topic

I'm not sure I understand how the 3 hour thing would work. Is it 3 hours after the last pick was made? Does it start every day at 8:00am or something and then end at 9 or 10 pm? Surely we wouldn't be on a 3 hour clock through the night. And that's still only potentially 4 or 5 picks a day.

Seems like a one round a day, on the clock at 30 minute intervals would be easier to track and then everyone would know exactly when they pick each day going forward. . . .i.e. no excuses. Just plan ahead and have proxies ready if necessary.

And it’s important to remember you don’t have to wait for your slot time if everyone before you has already drafted. The draft can still move at a good pace while in the clock.

Yes 3 hours from last pick. Most people pick much sooner than 3 hours, it just doesn't hold us up all day for those others. If you lean this way, Suggestion: if your time starts before 10pm you still have to pick at night or before 9am . Next one starts a 9am. And your 1 round a day would work fine too, was just trying with other thoughts. And we are up to 14 hours again.

just make a set timed schedule 1 round per day

I'm guessing we're not all in the same time zone, so "9 am" is relative.

We've already had waits of 11+, 17 and 15+ hours for thebubbaq to make picks in this draft. Perhaps we just need to focus on penalizing owners who repeatedly leave everyone waiting.

That's a pretty weak argument. As long as you're not the one missing your pick, what does it matter who is selected after you?

Many drafts start off the clock and move on the clock. I've never once heard the argument "well if we were on the clock from the beginning, I might've gotten a better pick at some point because people ahead of me took too long."
Rather than explain myself again. Lets just say you have trouble with comprehension. I'm talking about improving your draft position by people missing their picks, you're talking about "what does it matter who is selected after you?" What does that even mean?

Please guys, I don't want to turn this into a ******* contest. Just relax and we'll get through it. Clearly we need to have a clock of some kind and I will decide that in the next day or so. There really is no other option to speed up a draft that I know of. I understand vilefilemans concern, but now that we have a base roster down, I don't think the benefit will be much at all for lower picks, if someone misses a pick. There is no perfect answer, but clearly the status-quo is not gonna work if we want to finish inside 4 months.

I am not tied to my computer all day long Jtpsops, if you want to make a schedule and stick to it fine, but don't single me out. I am not the only one who goes extended time between picks. If you get to my turn at a certain time you might have to wait. Just like others in this draft. If my pick comes up at 10pm you might have to wait til the next morning. I have been in drafts where an entire day would pass and I didn't complain, nor did anyone else. I apologize for 3 of my picks at the bottom of rounds taking a little longer to the rest of you.

You're complaining that people at the bottom of the rounds will get better players if others miss picks, an advantage you didn't get when you were at the bottom of the round. But now that you're at the top, you'll pick ahead of those owners anyway, so why does it matter if a better player falls to them at pick 20-24? It's not gonna impact you.

We are switching our pick in the Giants round form Robbie Thompson to Ellis Burks. Since it was the last pick of the round it has no effect on any other owners and other teams have changed picks as well.

Not to be dramatic, but if this goes through, I will likely be leaving the league. Regardless of whether or not it impacts anything, this is a draft. Owners should not be allowed to go back and swap out their picks after the fact. And this wasn't even a case of a pick made in error (ie: a partial/combined season).

Part of this draft is developing a strategy, making a pick and adjusting on the fly down the line, if needed. Not going back and changing a pick to improve your roster. You've already made 4 picks since the Giants round. It gives you an advantage if you can go back and swap out players now.

I'll need to address my pitching at some point, but I can't pass up OF Amos Otis.
