Flyers 6....UGH!! Topic

The Flyers have acquired 6-3, 205-pound defenseman Patrik Hersley and 6-0, 185-pound wing Ned Lukacevic from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Denis Gauthier and their second-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Looks like they had to give a 2nd round pick just to get rid of Gauthier. These 2 players look like bums to me and will be lucky if they even make the Phantoms.

Hatch = the new Mike Rathje

6:06PM Philadelphia signs UFA defenceman Ossi Vaananen to a one year deal worth $1-million

My guess would be with this signing it probably means Jones is gone, too many defensmen and maybe his contract demands are too high.
7/1/2008 6:25 PM
1mil for Vaananen is a great deal. I agree choppers, if Jones wants over 1.2mil he can go find it elsewhere. I've been ready to lose some respect for Holmgren if he signed Jones to the numbers I've seen thrown around.

Flyers sign UFA Nate Raduns to a one-year.

All I could dig up on him so far is that he is 24 RW and was SJ property.

Glen Metropolit as well, two year deal. One of our forwards will be disapearing soon, wonder who?

Or, have they found a way to deal with the Hatcher situation where we lose his cap hit?

I am waiting to see how Holmgren works this out....
7/1/2008 6:49 PM
maybe they could put Hatch behind the desk with Therrien.

Metropolit is a 4th line center for us and will take Dowd's spot. He made $.500 last season, don't see him making any more than that.

Flyers also signed AHL offensive D-man Sean Curry 26 years old to a 2 year deal. Our D in the minors looks pretty damn good right now.

Holmgren said waiving Hatcher is an option but I think they would warn Hatcher before doing so and he would rather retire. Kind of sad since I like him but his $3.5 is way too much for him at his age and condition.

If Holmgren truely doesn't know whether he has that 3.5 to spend or not its really effecting his moves right now.

In the same article Holmgren said he will go about the free agent period as though we still have Hatcher's $3.5.

These moves won't make anybody drool but they are not bad IMO.

If nothing else we'll have the best defense the AHL has ever seen!
