Is there a site record for most pitchers used by one team in a season?

I am at 19 already with a 20th on the roster soon to be used.

Are there enough players for a 19th century league with the players being exclusive to one team?

Maybe for a smaller league, like 8, 10, or 12 teams?

Yes, quite a few progressives have begun in 1800's - but typically have to run two concurrent 8 team leagues (8 teams in NL and 8 in AL -each league independent of the other). Sometimes you have to supplement with scrubs from different eras

The 19th Century League should just be one league of 12 teams with 2 divisions of 6 teams each, and they play the schedule like it was in the 1970s, you play the 5 other teams in your division 18 times each for 90 and you play the 6 teams in the other division 12 times each for 72, so 90 + 72 = 162.

OR

You can play it like it was in the 1890s after the AA folded. One 12 team league without divisions, and you play the other 11 teams 12 times each for 132 games. That's what the NL schedule was in most of the 1890s. When Hamilton scored 198 runs that was in a 132 game schedule.

Look at this!

Another pitcher comes back from resting for weeks, and he goes 8 innings and gives up just one run. Frank Corridon with a sensational effort. Newcomer Mike Fetters pitches the 9th for the save as we take game one of a 3 game series from What If FSJU by a score of 3 to nil. Three zip. Three cypher. three zonk. Three to ZERO. Three zilch. Three nothing.

. That reminds me, what's with all of these crazy team names that guys use in these leagues. We got teams in this league called things like "They Call Me Cotton Candy" and "L.A. Suckerpunch." What's rong with a regular name like my team, The Bloomfield Rebels?

We got 2 runs in the second on an RBI single by Leach and an RBI triple from Schofield, who gave Helms a day off at 2B. The third run came in the 4th on an RBI single from Schofield. Cy Young went 6 innings and took the loss. Meanwhile Corridon went 8 scoreless innings allowing just one measly single to Rickey Henderson, although he also walked 4.

THREE STARS
1. Frank Corridon - 8 scoreless innings for the win
2. Dick Schofield - triple, single, 2 RBI
3. Tommy Leach - 2 hits, run, RBI

Game 2 of this series is Saturday afternoon. They go with 1909 Cy Morgan (6-3, 3.13). Earl Weaver gives the Ball to Roy Mitchell (5-1, 3.40).
12/24/2022 2:44 AM
Another win just now takes us to 25-22. Final was 6-3. Mitchell goes to 6-1. Allows 13 baserunners in 6 innings, but just 3 runs. Diego Castillo sees his first action for us with 2 scoreless innings, and Jim Henderson pitches a scoreless 9th for his second save, albeit a cheap one.

https://www.whatifsports.com/slb/Boxscore.aspx?gid=40534445&pid=1&pbp=0&tf=10

We trailed 2-0 when What If FSJU scores first with 2 in the bottom of the third. Two walks, a forceout at 2B, and then a 2 run triple from Prince Fielder. Mitchell bore down and got Justice and Gonzalez to strand Fielder at 3B. Top 5 now and Boudreau doubles home Mitchell (HBP) and Speaker (walk) with no outs, McCo0vey and Murcer walk and it's looking like a huge inning, but Cochrane hits into a 3-2-3 DP to end the threat.

2-2 now, bottom 6, Marte leads off with a double and Manny pinch hits for Morgan and singles him home. They end up with bases loaded 2 outs, but Mitchell again gets Justice out in a big spot. Top 7 and 1891 "Brewery" Jack Taylor on to pitch. Here's what happens:

7
Bloomfield Rebels
J.Taylor enters the game to pitch.
T.Speaker grounds out to 1B.
L.Boudreau is plunked in the leg by a pitch.
DP R.Cullenbine hits a triple. L.Boudreau scores.
II W.McCovey walks.
DP B.Murcer hits an infield single to 3B. R.Cullenbine scores.
L.Varland enters the game to pitch.
DP M.Cochrane hits a shallow flyout to RF.
T.Leach hits a shallow flyout to RCF.

So Varland cleans up Taylor's mess and keeps it as 4-3, us. Castillo enters the game to pitch, and has a 1-2-3 inning. Top 8 now. Cullenbine with a 2out, 2 run double as we get to Varner. Dorner comes in and gets McCovey to end the inning. It's now 6-3 us. Castill with another 1-2-3 inning as he throws 23 pitches and retires all 6 batters he faces. Henderson comes in for the 9th and gives up just a 2 out scratch single to pinch hitter Ramon Martinez before getting Gonzalez to end the game. Prince Fielder with 3 hits and 2 RBI for the losers.

THREE STARS
1. Lou Boudreau - 2 for 3, both doubles, with a walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI
2. Roy Cullenbine - 2 for 5, double, triple, with 3 RBI
3. Diego Castillo - hold, 2 scoreless innings as we came back and took the lead.

So far it's been a season mostly of winning steaks and losing steaks as we sit at 3 games over after 47 games. We need to avoid these killer losing streaks. Series finale with WHAT IF this evening. They have 1906 Barney Pelty (3-9, 3.90) going. Let's hang his 10th loss on him which would tie him with Jake Weimer, who just lost his 10th. Russ Ford (3-5, 4.68) goes for us.

Eureka, I have 6 guys in my bullpen who are all at 100 or in the 90s right now. First time in a few games where I am not making a move just to have some fresh pitching available.
12/24/2022 2:23 PM
I'd be tied for first in both of the other 2 AL divisions, and in first by myself in the NL Central. I'd be 4 games back in the NL east or West. Instead I am buried in the AL Central.

We completed the sweep of WHAT IF in fine fashion with an 11-6 thrashing. We have had a pattern lately of scoring late and often, and in this game we put up 4 runs in the 7th and 5 more in the 9th. Ford went 6.2 and gave up 4 runs in garnering the win. Pelty got pelted for 8 hits and 4 walks, good for 6 runs in 6.1 innings, and took the loss to fall to 3-10. Castillo went 1.1, Proctor .2, and Alcala got the last out and a save as the tying run was on deck with based loaded when he entered the game.

A-Rod homered and had 5 RBI for the losers. Boudreau was 3 for 6 with 2 doubles, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. He is now tied for second in the league with 20 doubles. Cullenbine homered and walked with 2 runs and 2 RBI. Cochrane singled and doubled with a run and 2 RBI. McCovey 2 RBI, Murcer 2 runs scored, Leach and Helms with 2 hits apiece.

THREE STARS
1. Lou Boudreau, 3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI
2. Roy Cullenbine - HR, walk, 2 runs, 2 RBI
3. Mickey Cochrane - single, double, run, 2 RBI

Okay, new series starts on the overnight. It's a home and home with a another team with a goofy name, They Call Me Cotton Candy. They are 24-24, and lead the NL Central by 3 games. They are throwing their ace, 1973 Tom Seaver (4-1, 1.66). Their catcher is 2006 Chris Snyder, and A+ thrower. 1978 Geoff Zahn (5-4, 4.33) throws for us.

Cotton Candy does not have much hitting. The only 2 guys who are doing much are Joe Mauer and Marwin Gonzalez. They also seem to only have 8 pitchers right now.

Trivia for you guys. Who hit the most career home runs off of Tom Seaver?

Cotton Candy just shut us out, 6-0. We got 9 hits but they were all singles. They also got 9 hits, but 2 of them were doubles, and they also were able to bunch some hits together. Seaver went 7 innings for the win and is now 5-1. Zahn went 6.2 innings and took the loss, falling to 5-5 now on the season. Hiller finished up the last 1.1 innings.

They got all the runs they needed in the bottom of the 4th on a Marte RBI double and a Zobrist RBI single. They then got 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th on 6 consecutive 2 out singles. Boros, Marte and Zobrist all had 2 hits. We had 3 hits from Speaker and 2 from Cochrane.

Next game we are back home and hosting Cotton Candy. We've got Jack Doscher Jr. (0-0, 0.00) going. This will be his first start after he debuted for the club with a 2 inning relief appearance a few days ago. They are going with 1963 Don Drysdale (4-8, 4.10). We have a couple of guys who could use a rest. We'll see.
