When I was a kid, I used to go to Southern California to visit my dad and step-mom for a month every summer. My step-mom was a high school teacher. She had a former student who went on to become a MLB pitcher. One year, we got invited to his house and I got to meet this pitcher. Of course, I was too young to remember anything about the visit. It turned out that he was a pretty darn good pitcher. He also is the recipient of one of Chris Berman's all-time best nicknames. In 1984, he finished 3rd in AL Cy Young voting, behind two relievers (W.Hernandez, Quisenberry).

Sorry, no good stories involving my other pick. Like my Keith Hernandez selection, I was eyeing '84 Moseby for the A++ range, but the '83 version is a better hitter.
1983 Lloyd Moseby, $6,181,628
