Kiper has the Pack taking Raji, profootballtalk and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Packer beat writer Bob McGinn says it'll be Crabtree.

McGinn says Crabtree is the top player on Green Bay's board. Both Cleveland and St. Louis said to be disenchanted with Crabtree's attitude during his visits.

I'd be fine with either Crabtree or Raji. If Crabtree is available, I don't see Thompson passing on him, seeing as he always sticks to his board.

The Packers really don't need a WR right now (obviously) but Crabtree is talented enough that I'd have a hard time passing him up.

If they can add another big play WR to go along with what they have I like it.

Packers should get Raji, Monroe, Smith or Crabtree now...we'll see

I think if the Jags take Crabtree, Thompson will pick Raji. I hope Crabtree falls to 9 though.
4/25/2009 5:05 PM
Crabtree, Raji or trade...gotta be one of those three.
4/25/2009 5:09 PM
Raji it is. Not bad. I find it hard to pass up Crabtree but the DL is a major need.
4/25/2009 5:16 PM
Thompson said he didn't think the board would look like that at 9 (Raji and Crabtree both available). Tough choice but guys with a body like Raji are hard to find and the Packers have done a pretty good job of turning lesser-rated guys into productive receivers.

Then... SHOCKER TIME!!!! Ted trades up, sending picks 41, 73, and 83 to New England for picks 26 and 162, meaning the Packers won't have a pick tomorrow until round 4. USC LB Clay Matthews is the pick at 26 (McGinn had him going 12 in his mock).

Even as a Vikings fan, I liked the Raji pick for the Packers...however, I was kind of mystified by the trade-up for Matthews. He's an okay LB, but I don't believe he was worthy of trading up for.
4/27/2009 11:54 AM
Yeah, he better turn out to be a good player.. on the other hand, Ted's record of 2nd and 3rd round picks is full of mediocrities (other than Greg Jennings) so I don't think there was tremendous opportunity cost there.

Seems like a lot to give up to move 15 spots, though.

The Packers were the only team to get an A-grade by Yahoo. Although, obviously, it's foolish to put any weight on grades that come out before the players have even played a game.
