Is there anyone who will have less than 25 players after the draft is complete?  I know it was brought up earlier that those guys would be allowed to fill out their rosters before unclaimed players opened up to everyone.  And how are the unclaimed players going to be handled?  Auction starting directly after draft picks are filled?  Are we gonna wait a day?

I have a couple open roster slots jonas. I didn't want to raise a fuss but part of the reason I drafted the way I did was because I though I could sneak a couple extra free draft picks on my roster. I hope that is still the case, but this is a grey area and if people interpreted the rules differently, then so be it. To clarify:

I would like to have a rule stating any owner may use unclaimed players to fill his roster up to the minimum 25 slots before open auction of the unclaimed players begins.

As for the rest of the unclaimed players, my understanding is they are up for open bidding as soon as the draft is over. Gumbercules should confirm this, but I believe bidding starts at $1 million and a player is won after 24 hours with no increase on the bid.

I'm reading the rules differently from teal - seems to me any filling of a roster to get to 25 would come after all auctions and drafts.

-After the initial player unit auction, there will be a 2-round supplemental draft, in which all owners participate
-After that supplemental draft, anyone who is still short of 25 players for the 2000 season may add players to get up to 25
-After every owner has 25 players, all remaining players may be bid on by anyone who still has funds remaining and wishes to add more players


That is what was decided on page 10 of this thread.  It looks like there will only be one extra pick before auctioning off remainders.

What happened was the auction after the supplemental draft wasn't part of the initial rules- ct threw that in later.  So I'm going to let teal_leo take his guy to make 25 (only thing is he's got to wait until all the picks from the 2 rounds are in).  As soon as that pick is in the auction begins- remember, you have 24 hours to get a bid in and bids are considered won after 12 hours, not 24.

Actually, if you count my trade of cash for Benito Santiago, I now sit at exactly 25 and it's a non-issue. I have boxed myself into a precarious position.

Originally, I thought I'd take advantage of the sub 25 man roster rule and pick up some sweet adds from the table scraps. So during the auction I intentionally drafted by far the fewest total players. The two-round supplemental draft really screwed up my strategy in that regard, as I lost out on potentially adding three guys of  the Miller, Suppan, Winn, Palmeiro caliber. No crying over spilt milk. I should have fought harder against the supplemental draft but it was all crazy in the league at that time. Still have a good team and I look forward to the upcoming inaugural season. I didn't think I could actually pull off the sub-25 man roster trick, kinda shocked that I did it.

On that note, with exactly no extra players, I'll be needing filler PA/IP on the cheap. If you're one of these 30+ player owners, we should talk about how much the bottom of our barrel might be worth.
