knne, I'll be on tonight at 4PM PST hope to see you there

Is the deadline seriously today or is it next tuesday?  It seems odd that we get a week to pick our teams and 30hrs to play our games.

My killer b (small k and small b on purpose) is going to be pre-steroid Jeff Bagwell.
As an Astros fan, I resent that statement. Baggy never took steroids and there is no proof that he did.

Yea guys, sorry about the mixup, I meant next Tuesday. Thought you guys would know you usually get a week to play the games. :)

There's no proof Bonds, Mark McGwire did either.

I resent being assigned a .500 team against my will versus what would've been a playoff-caliber team in a non-strike season because of an a-hole captain who doesn't answer sitemails, but whatever.

You said I didn't talk enough. I don't talk unless I need to. This is one of those times. Anyway, I thought you were a Red Sox fan.

Ha! Donald has finally come out! :) I live in Houston, and been an Astros fan for life, my dad used to work in Boston so I grew up in both towns loving both teams. As far as Bonds and McGwire... McGwire has admitted to his use. Bonds has a preponderance of evidence against him. Where is all that stuff needed for Baggy? Nowhere...

I don't believe Bagwell took anything and is generally one of the good guys in baseball. He will be screwed because of the era he played in. He was a border line HOF but with the steriod era during his time I don't think he will get in. That's why I don't understand why so many players that didn't do anything wrong protect the few that did. You can't tell me that the players didn't know what was going on.

Tomjames I think there is a huge error in your logic.  Your question is "why so many players that didn't do anything wrong protect the few that did."  If you honestly believe there were only "a few" guys using PEDs you're incredibly naive.  Most of the former ballplayers from the '90s seem to think it was well over 50% who WERE using.  Which leads me to think that HOF numbers should still get in; the best players were still the best playing with and against other guys who were using the same advantages.  But to say only a few were using is ridiculous.

I don't think 50% of players used them on a regular basis. It's probably more like 25-30%. If you take the players that tried it once or a couple times, then sure it's probably well over 50%. If I was a aging player looking for that last great year, then I would have used them as well. Unlike other sports baseball stats are different. Everyone knows that 500 homeruns, 3000 hits, 300 wins are special numbers. If you have a ton of players passing those marks, then why are they so special? in the other sports the only thing people care about are wins and championships. In baseball those are important but it's the numbers that people look at. Kerry Collins is 11th on the all-time pass yards list in the NFL, is he a HOF? Bagwell's numbers where close to HOF type numbers but because of the time in the game he played, he will be punished.

I was speaking tongue-in-cheek about Bagwell but unfortunately any player from that era is under suspicion. Biggio's power numbers inflated very late in his career and as an Italian from Brooklyn who also lived on Long Island, I hope Biggio, an Italian from Long Island, did not juice, but no one can be sure.

wow the optimism is inspiring.  I always assumed Pettit and Clemens went to the 'Stros because thats where the good stuff was.  toss in in Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley, Luis Gonzalez, all others I cant remember right now its hard to see that he didnt.

Until the entire list of 104 is out, everyone from that era is under suspicion. Even afterwards...

My 1992 Astros sweep Tom's 1994 Astros, 2-1 and 8-1.

Game 1: Steve "Huckleberry" Finley lines an RBI double for '94 in top 4th but Eddie Taubensee "Bridge" grounds one up the middle for '92 with RISP for 2 runs a half inning later. '92 closer Doug Jones loads the bases in top 9th but with 2 outs, Willie "The Exorcist" Blair retires PH Sid Bream to end the game. W: Harnisch. L: Drabek. Sv: Blair.

Game 2: In top 4th, Jeff Bagwell smacks a bases-clearing double followed by an RBI double by Steve Finley, but it was ET's phoning home that sealed it as Taubensee blasts a 3-run jack to right-center to cap a 7-run 4th. W: Portugal. L: Kile.

Didn't someone complain about his team earlier? :)

LOL...When Eddie Taubensee (.222, 5 HR) gives your team's best offensive performance, that is luck!
