regarding the draft delays, I'm always of two minds about it, especially since I have such a weird schedule. I held up the draft for eight hours because I didn't proxy. To be fair, I didn't proxy for the same reason albi didn't - I had no idea where I was going to go in 8 spots.
But that's part of the problem. When there is a repeat offender in delaying drafts, it causes a chain reaction. We got to albi yesterday, and everyone knew it'd be the next day before a pick was made. I literally quit looking at WIS when it got to that point. I know I'm not alone in that. I should have at least looked at what I needed and sent a name just in case, as I have several rounds thus far, but I didn't. I think the name would have been the guy that I ended up taking, as I did figure I was taking a backup to Horace this round but wasn't exactly sure which direction I was going, so I didn't. I have regretted sending proxies before, and because of that, I tend to not ***** people out for it, especially when they are 6, 8, or even 15 picks away. The draft board looks completely different 15 spots away.
It does suck when it's the same guy every time. We've gone through it in each of these drafts now (not always albi). I will stick up for Albi and say that one of them he did proxy a lot (I think it was last time, and he actually did a lot better IIRC).
I will also say this: We're paying $50 for this. If an owner wants to take a little time to make the right decision, I will respect that. $50 is $50. It'd be cool if said owner came up with just one "dream" guy that he'd take in a heartbeat if he was still there by the time it got back to him, but yeah, at the end of the day, everybody is paying a not insignificant amount of money for this league, and it feels absolutely horrible when you rush a pick and feel like you made a huge mistake just because you don't want to inconvenience a few other nerds on the net ... like I felt I did in round 4.
So, on one hand, let's have a little more patience. On the other, let's have a little more respect. Albi, each time you pick, it'd be really cool if you took a couple of minutes and thought to yourself, "Who is the one guy that I'd be ecstatic to still be here when it gets back to me that I'd have no hesitation in drafting?" and then sent that name to a couple of guys.
