That is my ACTUAL lineup from a league of all WAA hitters. That is not a lineup you would see in a 90-100mil league.

...you obviously don't want to hear the answer...100 results is a statistically small sample size...one reasoin caruthers is so popular is that he gets over 2000 BFP and 20 games into a season he'll have more play events than short IP guys like carlos can get in a whole season...

...but do your talk radio logic thing...nobody can prove you wrong so obviously you must be right...

sometimes i think users on this site would be happier if their .300 hitters actually got .3 hits every time they came up.

Half of small is small. Carlos didn't have a ton of innings in his season to begin with. Through 30 innings last year, CC Sabathia had an ERA up around 8. This stuff happens, and it isn't ludicrous OR ludacris.

Note: Ludacris, in fact, throws serious heat, which he backs up with a nose-to-toes bender. ERA under 2 and WHIP under 1 at any cap.

No, some users want there .300 hitters to hit .300. They want their opponents hitters to hit .169 because that's what their pitchers OAV is.

The funny thing is that we occasionally hear complaints like this about good players underperforming, but how often do we hear these same people cry conspiracy when their $3M OF hits .350/.400/.500 instead of the .250/.350/.400 his RL stats suggest he should?

Same kind of thing with daylight savings time. There's always people who show up to work late on Monday when the time moves forward, but how many people show up early when time falls back? People complain when luck goes against them, and take it for granted when it works for them - It's human nature.

Yeah, there's some weird luck working there. But run this same league 20 more times, and I'd bet all the money I've spent on WIS that there's be a year somewhere in there where Carlos would perform much better than he should and it would all average out in the end.

This is called "attribution theorey." Astute observation.

Exactly. When Babe Ruth faces Cy Young your expected results depend on which player you own.

That's the answer I've been waiting for.

Anyway, I'm going to go along with the big brains here. 22IP is a small sample size regardless of how far through the season you are. Hell... 1 season is a small sample size.

Man, my 12 month assignment in New Jersey was in the late 80's... You want to talk BIG HAIR, you're talking the capital of BIG HAIR back then...

And even today, most New Jersey women have a lot a hair... It's just on their chests...

Even tho the samples size is small, I have to say that this is a very entertaining thread so far.

I'm a firm believer in getting a good/bad version of a player.

You obviously got a bad version this time around. I'm sure there are a handful of people out there who have a lights out version of Carlos. But you rarely see threads about guys who are over performing.

Is this the right place to talk about my '91 Jose Gonzalez that's slugging .556?
