Also, if you sit on over ML payroll till after the draft and you've spent the $6 mil or so on your picks, can you then transfer enough over to get back up to $30 mil.

I took absolute cap of $30M to mean absolute cap, similar to how medical, training, etc. are absolutely capped at $20M. If the new "cap" of $30M means only that you can have no more than $30M in prospect at any one time then I'd have to think it's effectiveness would be limited at best. You'd have people drop $30M on the first good Int'l to come along, then just transfer more money into prospect and bid on the future Int'l as well.

can you transfer in more if you've spent some, to get back to $30M?

Will $30M be the cap for the season, or just the most you can have in prospect at one time?

What's stopping someone from having $30M in prospect, spending $20M on an IFA, and then moving more money into prospect?

More times I've been with 18 mil in prospect when the seasons over than I've landed the stud. Makes landing the stud so much sweeter though.

There have been a few times where I've had 18-20 budgeted for IFA, and had lots of prospect cash and not seen a single one of the top IFAs signed that season. So there's no ironclad guarantee that having zillions in prospect gets you the goods.

I like the risk though.

Nothing but a foot in the *** will stop a tanker. But restricting teams to one 20m IFA(assuming they want to sign their first couple of high draft picks) makes it less "profitable" to do it. Instead of getting 2-3 15m+ IFA, you're only getting one.

The cap is in place all season, once you hit $30M you can't transfer any more money into the prospect budget.

this will make the draft more important, though, won't it? which will... encourage tankers.

EDIT: why don't we bring in some tankers and find out! mirky, what is your reaction to these changes?

Agree. With this change, if you're rebuilding and go 32-130, you get one stellar INTL and the top pick in the draft. If you spend an extra $15M on competent FA and go 70-92, you get a similarly stellar INTL and the 7th pick in the draft, which isn't enough different from the yield at 32-130 to make it worth it if you have any pride at all.

If you have no pride at all it's foot in the *** time.

Not to be a pain in the *** here, and it may just be a difference in wording (I hope), but I read that and my first thought is that an owner could get himself up to $29M repeatedly (spend, transfer, spend, transfer) and that it's only once you hit $30M that you are "locked out" from transferring more.

I would wager a very large sum that this is not how it's going to work

Well, this is good news. Glad to know ADMIN can see the same problems users do.

Your franchise page shows how much you have spent in prospect money. That will be capped at 30m. It's pretty simple, I think. I like the change.

Where is this "franchise page" please?

I'd certainly hope not, but the language used makes me wonder and seems to leave open the possibility.

zbrent: From the standings page click your franchise name that will pop open the franchise profile.
