Butler is the exact reason the Tourney should be expanded, more mid major teams deserve a shot.

We get it, your are tired of Kansas losing to Mid Major programs in the NCAA Tourney so expanding would be your worst nightmare.

Use your brain and read my previous response.
But the games are still going to matter. Teams that would be on the bubble now are still gonna fight like crazy to try and get one of those top 8 seeds to get that first round bye! The kids are still going to play just as hard and the coaches are still going to coach the same. Everything will be the same except we get to see more games

I want to watch watch a16 seed upset a one seed. Why would we add more teams? why dont we just let everyone into the tournament, this is a joke

The NCAA is adding less than 1 team per conference. That is a far cry from adding "everyone". Stop the hysterics, talk facts, and you might convince someone on the actual merits on non-expansion. Right now, I see no reason not to expand except it will stop hysteric Kansas fans from screaming that the sky is falling.

Have you read this thread at all? Even with expansion, fewer than 30% of all D1 teams are included, which is much lower than other sports. Not even close to letting "everyone" in.

How so? They are a #5 seed, it is not like they are making this run as a #12 seed. They were expected to at least make the sweet 16.

what is the farthest any seed #12 or below has gone in the tournament ever? (edit - I actually have not found anyone below #12 making the elite 8 as of yet, so sweet 16?)

what is the lowest seed to make the final four? #11 has done it twice (LSU and Geroge Mason)

what is the lowest seed to ever WIN the championship? #8 Villanova

So to me it seems we actually have too many teams already in the tournament!

This is a tournament about finding a CHAMPION, not a lets let as many teams as we can fit in type of tournament. When teams BELOW #8 seeds start advancing to the finals, THEN add more teams

There are already some mediocre teams in the 64-team playoffs. Let's let more in! Yay! Everyone gets a medal! You're all special even though you didn't prove it in the regular season. Come play with the good teams anyway!

If you think this tournament is just about just finding a champion you are obviously thinking incorrectly. With auto-bids and most of the teams that are in it this is an experience for the college kids. Yes it does lead to a "champion" but its the champion of March not the best team in the country over the course of 6 months.

Most teams and games you love to watch in the tournament won't even end up in the final 4 let alone winning it all. Just think of some of the great games you saw this year and some great upsets as well. #16 over a #1 will happen in the next 3 years. I would take 1 out of 12 for that now. I mean the #16 seed is going to be some a good/inconsistent team instead of the auto-ins that you see right now that will be the #24th seeds.

Why is it fair that some of the best mid-majors are excluded because they lost in their conference tournament? If you really believed what you said, you would be against using the conference tournaments as automatic seeds.

Personally, I like watching college basketball, so I am fine with having more games available.

Why don't you shut your mouth, and understand that i didn't literally mean " everyone" you dumbass. This year was the weakest at large field we have seen ever, half the teams didn't even deserve to get in. So why should we expand it, the way the tournament is set up right now is fair and no one has had a problem with it. Don't fix something that's not broken. I am sure you're a duke fan as well you bum.
