2 related questions: 1) are we waiting for the new release? if so 2) seeing as all the salaries are going up significantly are we considering raising the cap to 52m?
1)  No.  If it comes out before we're ready to start, then we'll use it.  If it doesn't, we'll go ahead and do another with the current sim.  At first I thought about waiting (thus the delay before I posted the sign-up) but have now decided against waiting as I saw what happened to the UPL and have zero confidence in this site's staff to do anything in a timely manner.

2)  I would definitely consider it.  I'd like to try it at $47M first to see how things are balanced, but I would raise it if a majority wanted to.
for what it's worth the starting 5 on an open league contender will now draft for about 42m just by itself - since the idea of having the 47m cap was to give us room to get some of the all timers together on one squad I think we should seriously consider setting the cap at 52m

In again.  My team last time was made on such short notice.  Was hitting the bottle hard and put the team together in such haste I didn't put enough thought or HISTORY into my picks as everyone was waiting.

I agree with you, felonius.  I'll call a vote of all returning members... We'll take majority vote as of midnight Friday and change it accordingly.  I'll send out a SM sometime tonight.

keep it how it is right now, leave well enough alone

why do you want to change to 52 so everybody can just keep the same cookie cutter teams they had at 47? Where's the fun in that
9/30/2010 1:00 AM
oops... I never sent the SM.

1)  The original cap for this league was $52M
2)  We've only done one league at $47M, so I hardly see how it can be considered anything cookie-cutter
3)  With the salary increases, making a "realistic team" is hard at $42M.  Lower caps won't fit in with the "What If?" concept.  This is very much a "What if?" concept league.  I'd like to try and put a good Lebron, Shaq and Walt Frazier together on a Cleveland team.  Oscar, Jabbar & Ray Allen would be kind of dreamy on Milwaukee.  After the time I've spent trying to put $42M teams together, I'm not even sure that's possible at $47M.

But we can give the $47M cap a go and see.  I likely won't be able to send a SM asking, so please post your feelings here.

So far we've got one for $52M & one for $47M

$52 million sounds good

I'm new and don't know much but after looking at the new salaries I think $52M makes good sense

52

I say 47.  lets see what the new salaries mean to teams like the pacers and grizzlies with this format.  hell, i might even pick the pacers if we keep it at 47.
10/3/2010 12:32 PM
wow, that sounds fascinating  - yeah let's celebrate the grizzlies and build teams that suck down to their level sign me up for that

the cap level is too restrictive of the main element of this league's theme which is 'use any season of anyone who ever' etc - 'use any season but make sure they're cheap' subverts the spirit of that theme

52

it really needs to be $52M to give everybody a decent shot - those new salaries are brutal

10/3/2010 10:28 PM

hell lets just make it 100M and then Chamberlain, Magic and company can just trample all over the pacers, that sounds like fun

10/3/2010 11:33 PM
a) Magic Wilt et al finished just a smidge over .500 last time so I wouldnt make that assumption
b) have you started trying to draft a team yet?
