12.5% is too much and not realistic. I'd say somewhere around half that would make more sense.

polabonez -- we aren't going to go back to the old engine, but we are going to work to make the new engine the best it can be.  There was an issue with the fumbles as you noted and it has since been fixed.  You should not see that in future games.

Joe - I agree with another poster about formation IQ. A-F might be boring, but it is better than being blind to the rating. I'd say put something in like Hoops Dynasty uses and then work on something "better" at a later date.

So just to be clear; We now need to look at GPA when recruiting to help decide how quickly a formation is picked up?

I think it will be hard to change once a system is in...definitely agree that over-thinking it is not good for anyone.

Yes.  The recruit's existing formation IQ is also based on his GPA.

Glad its fixed, if it really is. But why wasn't it fully tested to know that this was a problem. Something doesn't seem right when your customers are asked to pay for a test product. I do Thank You for answering these questions.

joe, can you talk briefly about starters don't come out until they are exhausted in the red? Even a real team may sub some players and I'm not talking about total formations like in the past but maybe make it 80% instead of 60?

A couple things I have read here I like. I like that a student's GPA has some meaning. However, I think it should only effect if he will play all 4 years. Shouldn't Game Instinct play a bigger role than IQ. I know of several OSU Buckeyes who left after their Junior year to play in the pros because of their grades. They were first and second round draft picks, and had long pro careers.

Yeah, something like 80% might work. At least let them come out when in Yellow instead of Red.

To the best of my knowledge, it is fixed.  The engine was tested exhaustively, however, we could not possibly test every game situation using every possible matchup in the game and every possible setting in the game.  We did our best, but we were bound to miss some things.  As we become aware of issues, we are working to correct them as quickly as possible.

I would like some control on when a guy comes out. We went from hockey line like changes to the starting pitcher going 12 innings.

I think a disconnect here is that the icons next to players' names in the play-by-play are not the same scale as before and is more used to show how a player is progressing towards being subbed out of the game.  I'm trying to remember off hand, but I think complete red icon around 70% tired.  The various positions fatigue at different rates depending upon usage and will also sub at different times.  A QB will fatigue slower and stay in the game longer than a RB.

I understand that you do not have as much absolute control as you did before over subs and I touched on this in the Critical News post.  I am not opposed to giving coaches more control over subs, but it must be done in such a way as to be realistic and not create setting manipulation loopholes like existed before.

I don't think this should be open for debate here.

someone is already suggesting 4-5 redshirts.   This is by far not the most important thing needed.

What's most important is whatever was done was undone and fixed before released. The game is buggy.  I had a game today and had a 55 yard pass reception caught. Fumble, recovered from my team, and ended up 3rd and 18.

This happened twice in ONE game.  And this is just one small example of reported bugs.

Everything is so random,  it appears whatever idea you had isn't working.    Obviously the beta test was not complete.

I would say figure out a way to put the game back the way it was.  Open up discussion to the council. EDIT:  (From what I have heard the council's ideas haven't even been listened too regarding to this release anyways)  Maybe even add a few fresh council members who listen to the public and get this game back on track.

It was a terrible release. Hands down.  Whether it was rushed or whatever, I don't want to beta test and lose games because the bugs aren't worked out.  I want to play the game I pay to play.
Relax, killer.

I never said once that suggesting 4-5 RS is the most important thing needed. Excuse me for trying something novel.. like staying on topic. JConte specifically wrote about IQ and talent (you know the word in the title of this thread).

My suggestion to him was on-topic in regards to increasing IQ and a very legitimate one.

Now, if he started a thread about fumbles going -55 yards like the various other threads today, I would have asked him a question or made a suggestion regarding that. Had he started a thread asking what by far  is the most important thing needed, I wouldn't have mentioned one thing about redshirts.

Is IQ just formation IQ or is GI/Tech as well? I think we need to increase redshirts to 4 or 5 as well.
IQ is just formation IQ and is increased for your players using practice time on the formations.  The rate of a player's improvement is based on the practice time, his intelligence (GPA), and his work ethic.
Joe, since GPA is now an important component of overall performance by default it is now a core category. Can that intelligence rating (GPA) be added to the core categories, ie GPA, ATH, SPD, DUR, WE, etc?  Otherwise, during the recruiting search we'd have to open every player's profile to see what his GPA is.
