Multiple Teams in One World Topic

I feel solution #2, posting the scouted states AFTER recruiting is finished, is a great idea but it wouldn't eliminate suspicion. I know coaches that never use FSS. Posting their vacant FSS list would make it appear they had another team.

I don't think this is a good idea, as I don't want my recruiting strategies revealed to the world, and (especially at d3) those are often shown clearly through my scouting.

And for full disclosure, I have 2 teams in Naismith under different IDs-- NC State (d1) and Marymount (d3), a mere 150 miles apart, but I've never even vaguely considered sharing FSS data. Too much of a pain in the butt, and as billy said, too dishonest and slimy feeling. I very regularly scout VA, NC, and WV with both schools, and sometimes SC and MD as well. The simple truth is, I never look below D1 guys at State. and the day those recruits are coinciding with my d3 pulldown recruits will be the day I retire.

Plus side
1-generates revenue
2-improves the world - usually multiple team owners are better coaches
3-coaches enjoy it

Minus Side
1-implicit collusion is in effect as how can one compete against oneself?, esp in same division, although divisions overlap more than they used to
2-advantage in giving coaches a 'feel' for limits in recruiting, esp in same division
3-some have used it to cheat, IMO a very small %

General
1-Problem is worse now in that recruiting between divisions is more grey, and I for one look around the entire country for 'bargains' much more than I used to
2-on the implicit collusion issue, multiple id's is not the only example, another might be a father and son, brothers, friends who got each other involved, friends from the game you sitemail or who you have helped or have helped you, conference mates, etc
3-Overall some may disagree, but I contend that any information is helpful, getting to see another teams data, is helpful, at least to me it has been

On the issue of full disclosure, I still play Ryan75 in world 7 (I think), recently when my OR account went from UCLA to UNC, I left a very good (OK great) barton team and shifted to EOregon with Ryan, so I was not close geographically.  When I was at UCLA, I once found a recruit when bargain hunting at UCLA on the last day, a 480 center who was high at everything, I felt so bad that he would have been a great recruit for my Barton team, that I felt compelled to take him for my UCLA team, the point is, even the most well intentioned coaches, will, even if by mistake, probably run into some interference in the game between the 2 ID's.  I took the ryan account team on to get rid of rewards points, thinking they might go away at some point, I am almost out - switching to eOregon from barton should guarantee running out, and I think that will be it for double teams in worlds for me.

If I were in charge, I would limit us, to one ID, one world, simply my opinion & not meant as a criticism, based on what I know and how I feel about the game.

I haven't read through of all this... but simply put:  this problem is one of the big reasons I think seble would like FSS to be free to all involved.  I personally don't like that idea.  I think it increases the enjoyment of the game to have to budget for FSS and think about your budget (part of the challenge).

That said, I generally disagree with having multiple teams in one world.  I appreciate many of the coaches who do have multiple teams making every effort to not gain a competitive edge...

I think multiple IDs in one world, given that a coach doesn't want to just move up to D2 and abandon his long time D3 program, is a little bit more acceptable. Coaches that are honest enough to only recruit players he has FSS scouted and not recruit players scouted by his other programs in the same world, I don't see anything wrong with this if such coach can withstand the temptation of grabbing a player to fill one last spot from his other teams states.

This situation, after closer examination, simply reeks of illegality and cheating. Not only did this coach has one team recruit alot of players from the home state of another team, he even has 2 teams long distance recruit into the same state within the same recruiting round. If this doesn't point to FSS sharing among his teams, then idk what does. How is this different from 2 coaches agreeing to have 1 scout NC, other scout NY, and then share the data to recruit from both states?

Maybe there could just be a list of id's/alt id's that can be cross referenced and then self policing could occur?
Maybe FSS could be given for free?

So I am an “OFFENDER”?

Texas and California have most of the recruits so why wouldn’t you scout them?

Tianyi7886 started this entire rant because “This actually might have affected my recruiting since one of his teams went across country and landed one of the recruits that I was about to take a couple of seasons ago.“ His words.

In other words he is bitter because I signed a recruit he was interested in.
I purposely did not point out who you were because I did not want to accuse you in public. And no, I am not bitter from the recruit you took from 2 seasons ago in DC. At the time, I just thought it was one heck of a recruiting effort and nice job scouting out long distance, something I do alot when having 3+ scholarships. Now after knowing you have 5 IDs with 2 teams in Northeast, you probably scouted DC with one of those teams, saw Mctigue, and since he wouldn't drop down your NE teams due to prestige, took him with CMHMS when he did drop down to the CMHMS team.

My post was to show that it is indeed possible to affect overall recruiting even by having teams in different geographic regions.

On top of this, Bridgewater and Mount Ida both in MA, doesn't seem very dispersed to me.

And since you did decide to step up and name himself. You guys be the judge.

He has the following team in Phelan, all D3:

CMHMS under foxbat99
Texas, Dallas dpm1227
Bridgewater under Karrman, previously coached Medgar Evers
Mount Ida under jcraig1227
Wabash from craig 218

And now let's see where the recruits came from:

CMHMS: 2 FR from tX, 1 So from PA, 1 So from DC, 2JR from TX, so 4 players out of 12 from TX
Bridgewater: 1 FR from NC, this ID's previous season was from Medgar Evers in NY
Medgar Evers: 1 JR from NC
Texas Dallas: 2 JR from NC
Wabash: 1 SO from CA

So CMHMS has 4 out of 12 players from TX, a state his Texas Dallas team naturally scouts every year. Wabash has 1 player from Cal, a state CMHMS naturally scouts.

Both Medgar Evers and Texas Dallas has JRs from NC, a very expensive state to scout. I'm sure he scouted both states with both teams.

From what I see, he shares CA, TX, NC recruits among his multiple teams, and fill out the rest of his roster like this after pulldown/initial dropdowns. But hey, that's just me being a suspicious person.

And thanks for telling me that you won't schedule me in OOC anymore. I feel the same way since I don't like to play against a stacked deck for 1, sometimes, 2 games every season.

I have a feeling that alot of my recruits in various worlds could be getting poached from random IDs, but that's the risk I'm willing to take by posting this in my real ID as opposed to creating a new one and making it.
That's pretty damning.

The chances that he is scouting Texas with his CMHMS team when he already has another team in TX are pretty much slim and none, and slim just took a flying leap out of a 17th-floor window.

My thoughts exactly girt, and the TX and NY team both recruiting in NC in the same season?
1/11/2011 12:21 PM
to be honest girt/tianyi, i don't know this situation enough to comment. but i am not so quick to damn this coach. i had 2 teams in TX for a while, and one in illinois - and i scouted texas with all 3 schools like 5 different times. to anyone who looked, they probably would have thought i was cheating. i dont know why, but i have probably scouted texas more with my d2 school than all the other states outside 360 put together. maybe because its within that 1400 mile deal (i.e. not california), but i think its mostly because when i am hunting for a player who i can't find locally, a larger state often has a couple guys who might fit the bill, so i go for it, hoping to find one there. seems like i would scout 2 cheaper states to get 2 other possible targets but for some reason that is not the case. next up for my illinois school scouting afar are probably florida and then california in terms of who i've scouted hunting for players (also, i think TX is low competition wise in many ways compared to other places, so after signings, i feel it is less depleted. maybe thats just in tark though). so it kind of fits together, scouting the big states... anyway, the TX thing you guys are bringing up does make me question if that is the issue. NC is a big state too. maybe if he is in recruiting right now, at the end when he should be broke, you can ask him to share his scouting situation (via a screen shot or something, its dupable but a pain in the ***) so he can clear his name.
1/11/2011 12:45 PM
scouting those bigs states is too expensive for him to cover his *** on all bases if he really was cheating... assuming its after signings now...
1/11/2011 12:46 PM
Season has started. I knew he had multiple IDs, since I took over a team of his when his other foxbat (not foxbat99) left transylvania, but thought he is now down to 1. Then a GD coach who I used to play with put a msg on my board saying let's restart the rivalry, I go onto his board to reply and saw the following msg:

"duke...I have four other ID's in this world, dpm1227, craig218, karrmann and foxbat99."

He's been whining at me saying I'm just a sore loser for losing Mctigue 2 seasons ago. Just for the record, after he signed Mctigue, Jerome Glaze dropped down to me from Alaska (which is the player I was waiting for all along, with Mctigue as a backup, should Glaze not dropdown). Glaze is high in everything except Ath:

And following billg's advice, I responded to foxbat99 to screenshot his FSS screen for all his teams. Should be fairly easy to clear his name (albeit, photoshop is indeed possible, but it is a pain in the you know what).

Edit: Nvm, you can't post FSS screenshots once the season has started, only during recruiting.

well, coaches policing this is the only kind of policing going on. next time you see him reaching far for players on a bunch of teams, you could try again. i can't speak for other coaches, but personally, i know that having multiple teams will make some people suspicious, and i feel bad about that. so if somebody asked me (nicely) for screen shots of my FSS map, it wouldn't bother me one bit, and i would send it straight away.

the only problem with this idea is that not all coaches use FSS. I have nothing productive to add, I just wanted to point out that lack of evidence (no FSS) does not conclusively prove anything.
1/11/2011 1:28 PM
Other then the fact that he likely has FSS. He has FSS on texas or whatever on 1 team and not the other 4 and the other 4 are signing out of texas and such. That is what seems to be happening
1/11/2011 3:23 PM
There is nothing to prove. I will not let the actions of one coach drive me out of HD/WIS.

I have a total of five ID’s in D3 Phelan; I have no desire to move beyond D3. ANY coach could have multiple ID’s in any world…so why am I an “OFFENDER”? Oh yes, I signed a recruit from the District of Columbia that another coach was looking at. Sounds a bit petty and childish to me.

dpm1227 (University of Texas at Dallas)
craig218 (Wabash)
foxbat99 (CMHMS)
karrmann (Bridgewater)
jcraig1227 (Mount Ida)

Now for some facts….

Mount Ida is one and done. Bringing jcraig1227 from Knight was a mistake; I should have left that season where it was. I have a successful program at D3 Virginia Wesleyan and any credit gained this season will be used there in search of a second National Championship..

UTD and Wabash I have been coaching since season two. Many of those seasons have been played as one of two or the only coach in the respective conferences. I am fortunate enough to be #1 and #4 all time in wins D3. I have in the past two seasons FINALLY gotten both teams to A+ prestige. Neither has been past the Elite 8.

karrmann I kept because I wanted three ID’s with 500+ wins in the same world and it has two maybe three seasons left before all the credit runs out. Then that ID will retire.

CMHMS (foxbat99) was used because I wanted to know what coaching an A+ school was like. I know now and I am very humbled by the success I have found there.

When the credit for each ID runs out, that ID will be retired. Eventually I will be completely out of WIS.

karrmann   headpirate...I do not understand why you would think it is crappy. My teams are spread across the country, have only played twice in the post season, two of my ID's have been here since season 2(1 and 4 in all time in D3 wins). I keep them seperate ...

karrmann   ...and never even play exhibition games between my teams. I have taken great pains NOT to upset the competitive balance. I am sorry you feel the way you do, but there are many people with multiple ID's and with out us here there would be ven more sim ...

karrmann   ...coaches. By the way I have been very free with assistance to new coaches when asked.

Just saw this in the ODAC Phelan CC. If you are the same guy that had Emory and Henry a few seasons back (and it looks like you are if you're saying you're foxbat as well) before me on my other id (djp4516), then you have definitely used the accounts to spread your FSS around. When I took the job over, E&H, which is in Virginia, Indiana and Texas were bought using FSS, I sitemailed you on why, and your response was because you were using them for another ID. I don't have the sitemail anymore because they get deleted, but you're claiming that you never upset the competitive balance when I heard from your own mouth that you did indeed use your budget from another school to benefit yourself in the same world.

ps: I have 2 teams in Tark D2, and they do play each other in exhibitions, but that's as far as it goes. My roster from Carson Newman is all NC, SC, TN, and OH. Roster from Central Mizzou is MO, KS, AR, and IA. Never bought FSS from one account to benefit the other, and I never will.
