the thing that bothers me is the hiring process... i mean how can i not be eligible for a B- arkansas job, and what's the different between not qualified and keep looking and longshot?
I do agree with this one too.  The job hiring process in awful.  Thumbs up for adding this trobone.

The impeccable success with which "Quick Shot" offense is able to get the ball up court without error against a press.

Nothing thrills me more than to force 25 turnovers in the first 39 minutes and then see my opponent miraculously get the ball up the floor four consecutive trips in 4 or fewer seconds and launch off three-point shorts, never once throwing a bad pass, having the ball stolen or anything that would indicate playing with recklessness other than the reduced time frame of getting shots off.

I've long said if I was ever allowed to play "quick shot" for a full game as opposed to "fastbreak" I'd do it in a heartbeat.
I don't know if this is exactly what you meant, but how many times in the real world does a team back down from the fullcourt pressure in a game's closing minutes to avoid giving up the potential easy bucket?  Happens all the time.

the point is the vast majority of them will never again play basketball at a level nearly as high as college ball.  some may go on and play professional, but the vast majority do not.  they start a career, a family, and are not going to the gym every day to play with and against other college players.  they might play a pickup game once a week against the guys in their neighborhood, but it's nowhere near the same.

you dont need empirical evidence to back that assertion.  it's called common sense.
But those things are by choice or necessity, right?  Not because they tried to play basketball but couldn't get any better.

Players peak because they stop playing, not because they are at their literally peak.  I actually agree with overall point about keeping things the way they are now, but I don't agree about this.

Actually, I think there is evidence that most men peak physically in their mid-20s, which would almost certainly mean that if most college players kept playing competitively after college, they would probably get better.
i dont know.  i tend to look at the potential as we see it as their max potential for their college careers...which in most cases will be the players final potential, but in the case of guys playing pro, not always.

i view potential as the best they can be while in college...otherwise every single guy that gets drafted from WIS to the pros would be an immediate superstar because their ratings in their cores would be through the roof.

That's true, if you're viewing potential as "potential growth over the next 4-5 years," then I agree with your point.

And I kind of think you have to view it like that realistically, for the exact reason that bow2 mentions above.

True, but wouldn't that thought process be part of the reason for the "when winning by 'x' or more with less than 'y' minutes" section of the team game plan? If I want the D backed off, I can easily program a shift into a press/zone or press/man (or straight zone/man) if I desire, so I wouldn't think something like that would be programmed in. (at least I've never seen dialogue suggesting that it might be...)

A team only shifts into Quick Shot if they're within 10 with under a minute to play (you can't even get switched into it in a tie game and a handful of seconds left, which seems odd to me...). If it's that close, I would hope the game doesn't have my defense programmed to "back down" as that's a game that's very much up for grabs.

lol i got a kick out of this...for one of my D2 teams every D2 job is listed as lateral and comes with comments like "you should be looking at a higher division job" or "you should try to go for a D1 job"....

...yet i'm not qualified for a single D1 job.

my agent is not the sharpest crayon in the box apparently

jcmclmr1 new to hd computer had weak team, played tough team star avg 20.7 a game double team him and he scored 32. how do you stop a teams star. next game star avg 14 doubled him and he scored 17. is double teaming a reality.

jcmclmr1, are you an HD international recruit? ;)
3/27/2012 2:10 PM
don't understand just started this season, having big problem learning the defensive part of game on how to stop stars of other team.
3/27/2012 4:49 PM
Sometimes double teaming works but not all the time.
If their is multiple stars I sometimes double team the leading scorer of the two.

5+--5 on checking inside and outside is that useful on defense meaning if i use cheking outside will i automatically get beat on the inside

jcmclmr, since you're playing a half court press/man with no one on your team above a B IQ in man-to-man and a team defense of 33, you will have trouble stopping anyone with talent in the half court double team or no double team
3/27/2012 5:03 PM
thx just wanted to know was it my defense or did i really need to hit recruiting in defensive area
3/27/2012 5:09 PM
Sorry about that, jcmclmr1. Should've helped answer your question better. jsajsa is right. Your IQs are simply too low to run man. I'd start playing press only this season. If you want to move toward a man for next year, practice 15 on offense, 20 on man and only 5 on press, just to get the press IQs for reserves up to decent levels by end of season (so you can try for solid postseason run). Then next season, switch to 20/20 offense/man, and drop the press once man IQs get close to the press IQs. You might even try using 50 total practice for off/def until you're able to make the full switch, especially if you don't have many players with lots of potential. As for individual practice, drop it to 0 for any skill you get an email from the assistant coach about. That email means the skill has 1-2 more total potential, and putting 0 minutes practice into it will cause a VERY slow drop (no more than 1 a year). So it's much better to put those extra minutes into more improvable skills.

Against teams with top talent, go slowdown, to limit your fatigue and maximize starter minutes. You have a very good offensive team, and you have perimeter speed which can cause a lot of fastbreak scores. Stick with press for now, and I think you can do well, despite the low Def rating throughout your lineup. Good luck, and if you'd like more info, feel free to site mail me with specific questions.
