<<Supreme Court. The 14th Amendment upset the delicate balance between the states and Feds and lead us to where we are now.>>

News flash...the 14th Amendment is part of the Constitution you hold oh so dear. It was amended by the process your sainted FFs stipulated. So what's your *****?

The 14th Amendment is part of our Constitution and must be followed as law.

I personally think it was an error.

No contradiction.

And any person born in the United States is a citizen of the United States.

Out of curiosity then, why do you rail so, against those that think other parts of the Constitution are in error, like on gun control?
5/6/2012 6:02 PM
I dont rail against a persons right to oppose the 2nd Amendment. If you think the 2nd Amenment gives to much freedom to the people speak out against it.

Maybe you can get enough people to support you and change it.

I dont want the law of the land to change. I was just pointing out the negative impact of the 14th Amendment.
5/6/2012 10:01 PM
but if you think it is negative why wouldn't you work to change it?  Because it's just easier to ***** about something than to actually work to change it?

Actually amending the Constitution is, as I am sure you know, a hard process.

I do try to get the Federal Government to give states more rights. I support the right of the people of a state to have some differences in the way they run their own state.

Do you feel that every state should be more influnced by the federal government, less or do you feel it is about right?
5/7/2012 2:24 AM
We fought a civil war to settle the states rights question and it should no longer be an issue. We are citizens of the United States of America. As a matter of geography we live in Illinois, Michigan, California etc.  State governments are redundant and get in the way of effective solutions to national problems. In addition to that they tend to be a haven for the good old boys and are usually corrupt.

I am glad that you have the balls to stand up and say that you support a strong Federal government and weak State governments.

I agree with nick and cresty; for the reasons nick stated.
5/7/2012 6:04 PM
So lets look at what you claim...

1 State Governments get in the way of effective solutions to national problems. At what level is the individual more likely to impact, state or Federal? At what level is a persons rights most likely to be respected, State or Federal? If everything was federal would gay marriage be legal anywhere?

2 Good old buys and corrupt. Is it easier to gt control of 1 much larger Federal Government or 50 smaller state governments?

In the end the strong Federal Government makes us all follow the same rules. It does not allow for the differences between Iowa and Indiana. It is about one way of thinking and we all follow. State governments allow each of us to find the way that is best for us.

It does not allow for the differences between Iowa and Indiana.

Having spent time in both states I can assure you there is no difference between Iowa and Indiana.

What about Wyoming and California?

Define stolen?

Wasnt almost every place in the world at one time owned by someone else?

Was everything stolen?

And are claims on land eternal?
