According to CS, he was set to 0 for that game. I have no recollection of changing it, and he was set for -2 the game before (8 shots, no threes) and the game after (3 shots, no threes), but apparently he was different for that game in between.
As for -2 generally, it has ( in my experience) effectively prevented guards from shooting 3s (absent end of half/desperation time), which is why I was so surprised to see 6 go up when (I thought) the guy was at -2.
Every player can have different distros and 3pt settings for each of different defenses. My guess is that maybe you forgot to (or just somehow didn't) adjust his 3pt setting against the 2-3 zone defense because the other games were against opponents running man and press. I've made this mistake before, so you might just want to double-check this isn't the case if you haven't done so already.
That's a very distinct possibility. I've done it before in the past and had it backfire on me, so now when I adjust my distro at all, I always hit the "Save for all Defenses" option. Yes, it's extra work to change it every time I face a different defense, but it generally only takes me a couple of seconds to adjust.
